Greetings friends.
I recently bought a refurbished p7811fx from some guy that was selling it on eBAY. He was from my city so I emailed him an offer and he accepted to take off ebay and sell it to me personally.
From what he told me there is a 3month warranty on the laptop. However, I clearly remember reading a post here, where someone was told by Gateway that the refurbished p7811 was covered by Gateway for one year.
I want to call Gateway to clarify this but I just want to know exactly what to say in order to get covered?
One more question...off topic, Is there really any advantage of the p7805u model's 1gig of video ram?
thanks.

there's no advantage for the 1 gb ram due to the bit and chip set limitation.
MrPresident from the Sager/ Clevo forum did a 3dmarks06 test on a Bestbuy sample 7805 and got a score of 8707. I just did a 3dmarks06 candidly on my stock 7811 and got 8739... there's really not much difference and it showed that the extra vram on the gfx card as being a mere gimmick -
Do you know anything about the warranty? I would call gateway, but I dont know if I should say that it is refurbished....

For the warranty part, your best bet would be calling gateway personally and handing them your serial number to ask for your remaining warranty. That's what I did and mine expires on the 10/19/2009. It's over 3 months from the gateway renovation group warranty. Also, the 3 months warranty is non-transferable... just to let you know
-
what does non transferable mean?
-
means it is only valid for the first original purchaser not you
-
FYI, Gateway's first one year warranty is transferable.
-
yeah the 1 yr warranty from gateway is transferable... the 3 months from seneca data (gateway renovation group) is not
-
oh wow...that sucks. So I have no warranty....great. I have been gaming on this baby soo much I hope it does not burn down

hey man just call up gateway... im pretty sure they will get a RMA number and try to fix it up for you, rather than making an impulse decision to make a $200 loss
