Basically trying to get rid of all the excess bloat-ware. I've read the great guide for doing a clean install using the information already contained on the hard drive, using recovery disks, dvd's and whatnot. I'm not that great with computers but it was clear enough to understand.

However, my uncle works at Microsoft and I've got my hands on a copy of Vista Ultimate. I assume I can just upgrade from Vista Home Premium to that without voiding the warranty. But I'm concerned over whether the bloat-ware will carry over or whether I'll need to follow the clean install guide after the upgrade.

I have no problem following the guide but I'd love to save a step and get the upgrade and the clean install in at once. Unless of course upgrading somehow voids the warranty for some dumb reason...

tbh you will be doing the same thing whether you upgrade or clean install, only a clean install will take a little longer.

but both should only be a "put in cd, click click, wait" type thing; altho you might have to enter cdkey for the clena install vs upgrade.
