I've got a nice method for cleaning out the cpu fan area (taking the whole heat sink out and airblowing the dust out), but I cant find a decent way to get all the dust out of my gpu fan. I don't want to just like... blow INTO the fan and have all the dust inside my computer. Anyone have a method for this? In addition (Feel embarrassed asking such a newbie question), I've only actually screwed open my machine once to replace my cpu, where exactly is the gpu located? is it directly to the right when looking at it from the back?

on the left side after the dvd tray you can see the gpu heatsink, blowing air to the side. the cpu blows air to the back.

I have read tons of topics about cleaning out the GPU but I still dont know the absolute way to clean it.

Some say to just blow air from the left vent of the laptop (The vent for the GPU). Can someone confirm how to actually clean it?

It can. Thats how I cleaned mine - I used a hair drier (set on cold air ofc) and cleaned the crap out of it... :) Just let it rip through the exhaust and air-intake.

Well that's obvious. I was wondering where, internally, the gpu was located. Would i be able to apply thermal compound to it?

it didn't sound obvious from your question ;)

anyhow e-wrecked reported gateway did a real good job with the thermal goo on the gpu and it was completely useless to take the whole machine apart for that end.
