I've owned this computer for about a year and there is dust that completely covers my screen and a number of minor smudges. My main concern is what kind of cloth to use that won't create thousands of micro-scratches and leave fibers behind. Any tips are appreciated.

I have the same and really baby that screen - I bought the Monster Cleaner from Best Buy - which is for LCD, etc - comes with a good microfiber cloth - does not scratch and can be used to clean your screen and chassis as well

I have been using a paper towel and a little water for the last two years and still looks perfect.

Yep, paper towel and a little water works perfect for me too and no scratches

Cool I knew about the microfiber cloths but I didn't want to buy anything I didn't have to.

Damp clean cotton rag.

Paper towels can scratch plastic. Remember they have wood fibers in them.

I did a google search on this phrase 'LCD Screens made of glass or plastic' and it seems that the early LCD screens were made with a special thin glass but new LCD displays are plastic. Some mixed answers but overwhelming answers are that LCD screens today are plastic.

Good watching out
but i'm sure the p-7085 screen is made of glass, i haven't had any scratches caused by using damp paper towels, but i'll be cautious now when cleaning future screens, cheers

I brush it over really lightly with a dry microfiber/cotton cloth first to get rid of any surface dust. Then I go over it with a damp cloth in a gentle counterclockwise motion, which for me helps reduce drying streaks. Then I go over it lightly with a dry cloth again.
Works for me so far with 0 scratches. -
