    Hi,

I purchased a Gateway M-6888h notebook at the beginning of May. I have Windows Vista, a cable internet provider with no connectivity issues on other computers. Several issues have been present since I purchased the computer:

    1. Wireless connectivity appears to be interrupted on a regular basis. Although this is not indicated in my wireless window, streaming audio and video are interrupted after about one minute of play and do not recover.

    2. When wireless conectivity is limited and indicated as such, a full shutdown of the computer is required to regain connectivity. This is not a service provider issue; I use cable and my other notebook does not suffer from these interruptions and can reset the connectivity when the network becomes available again.

    3. Windows Live Mail cannot be left open for more than 10-15 minutes, as it refuses to connect to the server at that point. If it is left open too long, it cannot be closed and re-opened without a full shutdown of the computer. When this happens, often a full shutdown is not available and the only way to turn off is to hold down the power key.

    4. There are other instances (at least once per day) when the computer requires a shutdown with the power key. The computer generally requires a restart at least 5-10 times per day because it has become non-responsive.

    5. The first DVD that I burned took 8 minutes; subsequent DVDs have taken upwards of 5 hours. These have all had the same data--approximately 20 minutes of recorded video.

I have de-fragmented the disk, tried various wireless settings, etc. Can anyone recommend some solutions to these problems?

    Thank you!

Sounds like Vista. Your problems aren't just network, they're all over the place - general shutdowns, bad DVD burning. I don't do Vista so I don't have any advice for you, unfortunately.
