Correct Driver Updates for the 7805u

Hey everyone! I first just wanted to say i'm very happy i stumbled on this site, its such a great resource.

Anyways, I've searched on this forum to find updated drivers for my new 7805u, but i'm getting various answers on where to find em, if they work, etc etc. I looked through the 150+ Page 7805u thread and there is a great possibility I missed it some where in there, but after I hit the end of the pages, I felt like I was a zombie!

Anyways, can someone direct me to:
What I need to update, i.e. graphics card, wireless card, etc
The link to where to grab it at
The specific driver to grab.

The P7805u is a fairly new laptop. There is little if anything out there for official updates. I've only done two non Gateway official driver updates.

1.) the official nVidia 179.28's
2.) downgraded the synaptics driver then upgraded to add the auto disable on usb mouse insertion.

See this sticky. the 7805u is basicly the 7811fx and the 7801u. also i think the gateway website, look for driver for the 7811 and just double check it is for same part in 7805u. I think the only diff's are xtra vram bigger HDD and screen maybe in the 7805u...

 

If you go to the Gateway site they all seem to be listed as P7800 drivers so there seems little to no difference. Only thing should be, or at least you would hope, that they assembled these systems with the latest drivers.

 

Same here. I know this website has alot of seasoned gamers and folks who know the works of this machine but could someone guide a technologically challenged 7805u owner as to what steps to ensure a great experience using this computer. The only game that I play is the Sims 2 and I'm hoping to play the Sims 3 in the future. So far on TS2 website I have seen one report of TS2 crashing on this laptop. It was suggested that the user update his/her drivers. I am clueless as to how to approach this. I have tried to let windows search for drivers online (since I don't have a disk) but it came up with a message saying I have the latest driver installed. Yet I have seen people here updating drivers. I find some of the tutorials hard to follow and I am confused. TIA

about the video, it say on the site 176.15 is the latest, nVidia offeres 179.28 video drivers. Those may help...........

 

I had no need for any updates for the 7805u besides video drivers. It is still very new and comes with the latest drivers. you want want to try out the dox drivers or the nvidia 179.28 and see which one suits your gaming needs better.
