When starting and shuting down my notebook i get an error saying corrupt file. I think it is LoginU.exe or something like that and it says to use chkdsk. using the check now way and the cmd prompt way my computer says that there is an error but cannot fix it and it only gets like 5% done. also when selecting the fix on reboot my computer never fixes the problem. then i used the sfc /scannow prompt through cmd and it does not even get done verifying, it stops at 72%verification. i used windows defender and superantispyware and found no harmful software. what do i need to do now to fix the problem. i am also seeing this error when opening up internet explorer and the explorer.exe is not in tsk mngr. what is wrong and what are the steps to correct this problem besides fresh installing windows.

This may be a failing drive. Contact GW, but they most probably will ask you to reformat just to be sure. Check disk should have completed task.

I'm not up to speed with drive problems with vista, sorry.
