Let me preface this by saying that I have tried to search...
I guess this particular model is an oddball in the Gateway FX lineup. I was thinking of switching out the CPU, currently I have the T7500 (if memory serves me correct). Is the T9300 or T9800 compatible?

Next, I wanted to swap the dvd drive to Blu Ray. Does my model a SATA or PATA connection? Thanks, that's all for now.

the T9300 will work, the t9800 will not

You should have a PATA connection for your Optical drive.

Thanks for the response. I am looking on Ebay now. I see a T9300, but it says SLAYY...is that any different? Also, what's the likely hood of blowing a lcd inverter while doing a swap? I spoke to a LCD place out in NJ and they don't installs, but he said that he would set me up in the store with tools to do it myself. He told me that there is a chance that I could blow the inverter, but said it was like a $20 part that they don't sell. I know whenever someone says that something is "only" a certain price chances are that it is at least double.
