Basically, I tripped over and cracked my M6862 screen, the top right corner is cracked, the computer is still usable and might just keep it as it until next year when I decide to get a new laptop... Can anyone point me to the right direction to get the screen replaced? The cheapest possible..

If you can check with ebay and see if someone is selling a replacement LCD which they might have so you can replace your broken LCD. But when you do order from there ask questions about the products and make sure it matches either your LCD part number or the replacement matches up with your current LCD unit. I used Ebay for used and new parts but as anything I will tell people ask questions not general but technical as well to be sure the part your ordering or bidding on is the product you get. And so far my experience is fairly good and will keep using it but caution don't just buy it on face value but ask questions and don't make Ebay purchases from seller if they ask you to make purchases for items not listed on Ebay will not be honored by Ebay should the items fail to show up or the seller takes the money and sends no product.

The display itself could run into the $100 USD level. A tech may charge you another $50 or so just to do the work. I've purchased a couple off Ebay with no issues. You will have to take apart the computer just to find out what the model number of the display is that will be printed on the back.

Since you want the lap top to last until next year, instead of going through the hassle of getting a replacement LCD, why not hook it up to an external monitor? Maybe your tv or buy a cheap monitor or see if any of your friends have one that is not being used. Of course this depends on whether or not you need the mobility.
