i was looking around for this laptop and i saw this guy who had upgraded his gateway p-6860fx and he had more than 11k on benchmark06 and it was crazy because i know that the regular benchmark is around 7.5k
here it is his `beast`
1.) Johnksss: Gateway P-6860 FX / 1 x 320GB + 1 x 160GB / 4GB 667mhz ram / X9000 @ 3ghz / 8800m GTS / Vista X86 - 3Dmark06 = 11017
i took from

The 6860 rocks
-
I've got about 9265 on mine. I'd probably be pretty close to his if I OC'ed my X9000 and the 8800gts, but I'd rather stick with the lower temps and better stability.
-
oh ok thanks for the answers
-
That is because this laptop is legendary lol.
-
lol
and thats true -
And I bought it from him. He does bunch of optimization in OS too. He is gaining around 500-1000 points by turning on and off stuff in OS.
-
LOL alitunay your a freaking king pin. The uber laptop dealer lol.
-
-
-
If you don't mind me asking,
Was it done at 1280 x 1024? -
He's actually on this forums as well. And if you think that 11k was impressive, check out his D901C score.
-
Isn't johnks a forum user here? I think he has an ocz notebook now.
-
-
E-wrecked went with OCZ. -
those test we're ran @1280x800
6860
11,230@1280x800
10,196@1280x1024
6830
the highest was 10,167@1280x1024
yes, i would be a forum user here..
alitunay would be correct. i do allot of studying on how a particular model should run in almost any given situation.
working on a d901c now and will probably be changing that soon to one of the new models...
and fatmandoo:
my 7811fx
Main test results
3DMark Score 11,115 3DMarks@1280x1024
SM 2.0 Score 5335
SM 3.0 Score 4987
CPU Score 2491
so go ahead and push it. it will do more... -
I don't think I can achieve those kind of numbers since mine got 98c problems..
I am currently seriously thinking about buying Asus W90vp-a1.. maybe that will improve my score -
thanks
yes you can, just under volt your cpu.
the infamous zone sensor 98c? or gpu at 98c?
and the w90vp is looking very impressive indeed. and it will drastically improve your score...lol
and any help i can give, just ask away. -
I've done tons of searches and I've never found the answer to the problem I'm having. When I set RM Clock to start at startup, I always get a pop-up asking if I want this program to run. Is there any way to get rid of this? I've seen the driver problems, but never this
-
do your settings look like this?
-
Yes, it's set to startup just like yours. Is it because UAC is on? I hate to turn it off because theres an 8 year old and a 10 year old who also use the laptop from time to time, but if thats the only choice then I guess that's what I'll have to do.
-
well...you can test it first. see if it still shows.
mine has his own laptop. cant have him messing up dad's. -
That solved the problem. It's not actually my kids... I'm 14
It's my brothers who play World of Warcraft. The laptop's in my room though, so it should be fine. Disabling UAC solved the problem. A cooler laptops worth it, right?
Edit: New problem. RM Clock is throttling my CPU. When I hover over the icon it's always a little lower then the CPU Clock. Is this normal? Sorry I'm asking so many questions. This is my first time trying out all of this -
cool, glad it worked out for you.
thought you we're a bit older..lol
A cooler laptops worth it, right? <--- not suree what you mean here -
-
ok, lets make it even easier...
cool as in top of the line cool
or cool as in notebook cooler to help keep the laptop cool
and if it's cool laptops.
yes! they are worth it! at least to me it is. -
Cool as in notebook cooler to help keep the notebook cooler. But the P7805-U really is an amazing bang-for-your-buck laptop
When did they people start saying "cool" and mean awesome... they make my life so much more difficultWhen I hover over RMClock the CPU Throttle is lower then the CPU Clock even though I never set it to throttle anything. Is this normal? Orthos still shows 2260MHz which is normal so I guess it means nothing?
-
-
Thanks for all the help. I don't have the money for a laptop cooler just yet, so undervolting was my only option to help with temps. Throttling is normal, and shouldn't affect performance unless I choose to down-throttle more then default, correct?
EDIT: Answered it myself. Thanks again for all the help. +rep -
u don't really need a cooler. just put something under the back end of it so it has more breathing room. this should help out quite a bit. and it's free.
-
just cause I'm arrogant..and I had to chime in on my boy john - 11,274 on my 7811 @ 1280x1024
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=8173783
Dang it... it won't let me set it to public! Grr.. screenshot being added
-
thats pretty good man
do u OC the cpu and the gpu while u r doing this or is that high because of the processor? -
it shows CPU clocks @ stock 3.06 GHz.. I just OC'd GPU cause the CPU won't overclock with the 7811..
-
can someone tell me how low the i can undervolt the x7800 too?
random, i kno -
1.1V is a safe bet
-
lol
its funny that u cant OC ur cpu anymore e-wrecked -
hey wrecked did u change ur memory ram??
because i was thinking in getting a Kingston HyperX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit -
-
Would undervolting will help?
and if so, how much should I go about?
Thank you -
-
Thank you for the link.
I'll try it tonight.
Hopefully everything go well
Crazy p-6860!!!!
