I just got my Cryo LX today and when i plug it into my 7805 it seems like its not spinning nearly as fast as it should. I tested it in my desktop and it spun atleast 5x faster. I tried all the different USB ports, each giving it a different spin speed but none nearly as fast as my desktop. Is there some sort of power issue? Anything I can do? Thanks in advance![]()

scratch this, i got it, gotta do some real shady USB switching to get it to work at full power...

glad you got it too work bro, where did you buy it at and for how much? I have been looking for one and looking for a reason to justify the price I have seen them at. Hows it working for you, what are your before and after temps?

@jakamo5 - First I have the 7805 so 2 ports on the left and 1 on the right. At first i tried just the DC power cord in all of them. It was pitiful speed, i could easily follow it with my eyes. Then i tried the USB to USB with the USB to DC and it got a little faster (uhh both in the left ports). I tried switching the order with no luck. Then I stuck the DC in the right and the usb-usb in the bottom left and it started to get faster, then i took out both and quickly stuck them in at the same time and that kinda kick started it, and it got really fast for a second, but dropped down a bit after that (and yes its on full speed). It runs at a decent speed, but nothing that it should when plugged right into my Desktop.
@Strife - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834997340 is where i got mine, it was lower then that when i ordered it like a week ago, and also like a 25 dollar mail-in rebate.
@Penrod - THANKS! Ill look into it. -
@Penrod - Lol I see you yourself already made an acquisition into getting this so-called AC adapter. I read a few other posts and a mod said he couldnt find an AC adapter that fit... And that was in January.

Okay so I found the product, the back one and than the silver one, I kinda like the black/silver one that they have. What is this $25 mail in rebate your talking about? I found the same product on Amazon for the same price 69.99 but at least with Amazon you get free shipping. So what is this about a DC power cord for cooler? I am really worried about it not working with the few issues I have read about it, I mean having to switch USB's around seems annoying!
Also can you take some pictures of the notebook on the cooler? I am curious how it fits and looks. -
@Tehkun
The cryo LX doesn't draw much power from the USB > DC, it draws a lot more from the USB to USB. I decided to get a 5Volt 2Amp AC to DC adapter (wall socket) to use with my cooler instead of the USB to DC. This AC to DC adapter is made for PSP's, and still, it doesn't power the cooler to full speed. Therefore it must be a circuitry problem and not a power problem in the dc jack. The only way I can get full power is to use both USB to USB and AC to DC. Even then, the fan speed is sufficient, but I still feel like it's not going as fast as it could. The bright side is, without the USB to DC, I have an extra USB slot (but not really like you need it with the 4 extra slots that the Cryo adds).
Also, I did something else, and I'm not sure if it made a difference or anything but it definitely looks cooler... you'll notice there's a holed grill surrounding the fans. It is actually made up of two halves, a bottom and top half. If you unscrew the fan enclosure from the cooler, you can easily slip off the top half of the holed grill. That's what I did, so now there is no grill obstructing the fan's blowing through the grated top of the cooler. Just be careful you don't drop anything onto the top of the cooler that can slip through the grates into the fan. -
@Strife - Well when i purchased it I actually got free shipping, and a 15$ mail in rebate from Newegg. Thats the real reason i ordered it when I did. I heard alot of good things about it so i figured that it was the best time to get it.
Cryo LX trouble!
