I only get about 20fps (sometimes as low as 11fps) a lot of the time in Crysis, is this normal?

    I got 7206 3DMarks in 3DMark 06.

Do I have a bad driver, what driver will work best with games?

Maybe this is normal, I've heard Crysis is tough on computers..

Try running the game at 1024x768; Medium; w/ no AA.

Post your computer's specs please. :)

I used to run Crysis (before i upgraded) a lot better, on the same specs.. try letting Crysis choose the optimal settings... FPS should be higher

Yeah you're not gonna get any better than medium settings with the out of the box specs and video driver on the 6860. After I upgraded the CPU to a T9300, changed the video driver, and overclocked the GPU, I can run Crysis on my 6860 at very high (textures and shaders) with the rest set to high at 1440x900.

    Edit - Using 177.66 drivers, and score 9265 3dMark06 (GPU oc'd to 575mhz)

So I should be getting better then 20fps on the lowest settings? It jumps up significantly when I'm not looking over the island (or a long distance), but it's crazy how slow it runs during firefights.

Is it easy to upgrade the processor on the 6860? How would I do this and which processor would you recommend upgrading to?

    How is overclocking done?

    Thanks for the help guys!

I'm getting 24fps average running dx10 1400x900 resolution with the custom config file.

Swapping the processor is easy, do a quick search in the gateway forums and you'll find a lot of advice on what is the best etc.etc.

To overclock the GPU you need ntune. You can google it or just search in the forums.

Will Crysis run better in dx9 mode?

I just beat Crysis last night :) But at the very end on the flight deck I was only getting 10 (!) FPS at some points (1024 res, med settings, dx10).

I've had a very bad experience upgrading to the 177.66 drivers from laptopvideo2go.com.

I followed their instructions exactly, but when I restarted my laptop I got the blue screen of death!

I tried for probably two hours to boot into different modes (safe modes, cmd, repair, etc...) but nothing worked. The computer would get past the gateway screen and past the Microsoft loading screen (where the bar goes across the screen), but then it would show the blue screen of death for about 1/10 of a second (which made if stupidly hard to read) and then would crash :-(

Finally I gave up in disgust and left the laptop sitting on the couch where it would try to boot, then crash, then repeat indefinitely. And lo and behold, after maybe another half hour I came back and I saw the login screen! *** Microsoft?!?!?!?!?!?!

VaderSith - I ran 3DMark06 with the 177.66 drivers and my score dropped from 7206 3DMarks to 6933 3DMarks. Considering I'm scared to death to restart my laptop with these drivers, and that my score dropped 273 marks, I might just roll back the driver.

    What do you guys think?

When you loaded the 177.66 drivers, did you use the included nvac file, or did you use the nv_disp file. The reason I ask is because the 177.66 drivers run MUCH better using the included nvac file as opposed to the nv_disp file. On another note, I decided to reload the newest 178.13 drivers. I've oc'd the video card to 600/900/1400 as recommended my johnksss, and my 3dMark06 score went back to what it was with the 177.66 drivers, and Crysis plays even better.
