I tried to post this last night but it didn't work out.

Best Buy has a deal where if you buy a Gateway P7811FX you get a free game, $49.99 or less. I chose Crysis, I must say that it is a sweet game!

In DX10, 1920x1200 all settings medium with shadows low, my 7811FX with stock drivers was getting a solid 20-30 FPS (I saw this by using the r_DisplayInfo = 1 command)

In DX9, 1920x1200 all settings medium it was hitting 60+ FPS, it actually appeared to be limited to 60 FPS (maybe by nVidia or by the game itself). I turned shadows, texture detail, and a few other settings up to high, and am running the game at a solid 25-30 FPS, no lower than a very occassional 20 FPS.

If you haven't checked this game out, which I honestly had not, it is so much fun. During fire fights the bullets cut trees down, you can drive anything you come across, and the single player missions are very entertaining!

I believe your FPS is capped at 60 because of some sort of syncing with the refresh rate of the monitor, I forget what its called exactly.

The 60 FPS limitation is due to the LCD having a 60 hertz refresh rate. But also vsync will maintain this FPS rate to help improve performance.
