I have a Gateway 7811FX and I am wondering if one could use a motherboard from one of the newer models inside it. I am curious if one can interchange the motherboard with a newer model's one. The big reason is I am tired of the annoying problem where the screen clicks off, and if there was sound it continues for a second or so and then just repeats the same note over and over. From there the only thing I can do is restart the computer.

I've used many drivers, changed voltages, updated bios, and so on. I am just curious if it would be a good option to replace the motherboard with a newer better model or just get the same motherboard.

Why not try a different HDD, if you got a spare.
