    Hey guys,

Sometimes when I put a disk into the DVD drive on my 172x fx, it sounds like something is grinding in the drive. It is only a temporary sound, and after a few seconds it stops. For example, I loaded crysis on my machine. When I first put the disk in the grinding sound occurred. However, it stopped before the autorun started and never happened again throughout the install. Is this just the sound it makes on initial spin up?

Yes. I have the 6860fx and I believe its not much different thean the 172x fx in the parts they use. The drive does the same thing as yours.

i am pretty sure that it is just the lens moving. if you put the lens all the way out and put a disc in you'll hear it. just don't touch the lens it self, of course.

Ok, then I guess I wont really worry about it. It did not seem to be a problem, I just wanted to make sure. Thanks for the quick replies.
