What dvds should i buy to burn on my gateway 7510gx - dvd-r or dvd+r ?
-
Yeah, I would like to know the same for my 7515. I found this at the best buy site...

I prefer DVD+R. It has better error correction. Depending on the drive, DVD+R can be bitset. Bitsettings marks the disc so your DVD player sees it as a DVD-ROM making it nearly 100% compatible. I use use junky DVD-Rs for my PS2 though. It loves them.

Cool - DVD+R s it is! Anyone use RWs?

I use +RWs for backups.

For what it's worth, it's all more dependent on what you're going to use the discs for.
For data backup on the computer itself, DVD+RW is the way to go. If your drive doesn't support bitsetting, DVD-R for set-top DVD players is the way to go. For just all purpose, cheap discs, DVD+R is it. -
I have seen one DVD player fail to play a DVD+R in many years.

Mantis, I can't give you any more rep points - but you are freakin cool - keep being you! ... and what's lol about what Pulp said ( I don't get it)
<smiling, looking around> -
No I only said "What he said lol" because about the DVD-r and DV+r he pretty much pin pointed each of their purposes.
-
Oh! now I see

DVD-R's will give you better compatibility with other devices. If its only for your computer go with +R's, but if you plan on taking them places or using them in DVD players or whatever, go with high quality -R's, and don't burn at max speed (For movies).

cool, thanks for the heads up =]
