So apparently, I just got a dead pixel, but I'm not really sure it's a dead pixel. You see, I thought I had one, so I touched the screen in hopes that it would just be something on my screen, but then, nothing happened. Then, after maybe one second, the dark spot fell down!
Is this a dead pixel or something else? Yesterday I cleaned my screen with a wet shirt, so I hope that doesn't have anything to do with it. If it's a dead pixel then mann... it's a lot worse than people have said.. it's really really noticable if you ask me.

really hard to say without seeing it. how large is it? pics may help

I agree, take pictures.

But I take it that the "dead pixel" is no longer present, and thus cannot be photographed ?
With luck, whatever this was won't recurr. But if it does, I would be interested in a photo, too. -
If this is a pixel problem, it sounds more like an intermittently stuck pixel, though your description, ". . . fell down" doesn't really describe what I've seen of dead or stuck pixels. If it's a tiny black spot, it's dead. If it's a tiny red, green or blue spot, it's stuck, in which case there's a slight chance it might return to normal. There are a few apps which claim to be able to fix stuck pixels, and some folks say that by very lightly massaging a stuck pixel, you can sometimes correct the problem.
Personally, I've had no luck with any technique. I once owned a Voodoo notebook with an intermittently stuck red pixel smack in the middle of the damn screen - ugh. -
well it just looks like a hole in the screen.. so it's gotta be dead and not stuck...
and the "dead pixel" is still definitely present, but I don't think I can make it move again..
it just looks like a tiny bullet went through the screen? my friends have said that it's a dead pixel so I guess it really is =[ -
Dead pixels don't move...The physical pixel is immovable. if it is dead, it just wont light up.

i found what i thought were set of dead pixels. at first i thought it a spec of dirt so kept on trying to clean it, but of course it didn't work. There wasn't much more I could do and I couldn't send it back to gateway because I use my laptop for work. So I just told myself you might as well get used to it. When I was playing COD4 I noticed that the set of dead pixels were a little bit lower than they used to be. I double checked and sure enough it was. Weird how after a set of pixels that weren't lighting up suddenly light, a new set appears.

running fish, give some more details on your system, what gpu driver u using ?
-
I'm using the version 7.15.11.6746. you think i should update my drivers. I have tried the drivers from laptop2go. but they caused me more problems than anything.
-
I have updated my drivers and currently run 175.80
I really wonder what this thing is though.. I mean I've gotten used to it and just accepted the sad fact that it's a dead pixel and that it probably didn't move but rather was simply a figment of my imagination.
However, now that someone else has experienced the same thing, there's a new hope for me, except for the fact that nobody knows what's wrong yet haha..
The thing is, I don't think a dead pixel is this big. I'd take a picture but I have absolutely no camera.. I mean I could use my cell phone that has 2 megapixels if that is actually enough.. -
if you boot into bios, its still there ?
when the gateway screen appears on boot is it there ? -
Can you post screen shots which show the problem as it starts, and then when the dead spots (I don't think they're pixels) move? Maybe a close-up shot with a camera would work?
-
this is what mine loos like in the two instances it looks like a cluster of pixels that are dead sort of like this
