Dear Gateway FX p6860 users, I am practically standing on my knees begging you to help me find the way out.The situation is that I reinstalled vista and installed xp,using the guide here on the forum. The performance and the device identification did not satisfy my.I decided to return to vista. But, what came as a surprise to me, was the fact that the disk provided did not contain any drivers.Of course, i did not create the recovery disk beforehand...So,now I just hope for your kindness and want to ask someone to help.
    1. If you have any links for vista drivers...
    2. If you can create recovery disk images and upload them to megaupload, rapidshare, etc...
    3. If there are any other solutions...
Please, write me as soon as possible.
    You are my last hope.

You can go here and enter the serial number off the back of your FX, and you should get most of them. Alternatively you can go here and either choose your operating system (not sure if you wanted 32 or 64 bit) or go straight to "Display Results" and choose them from there. This will at least get you started.

call up gateway and ask them for recovery disks.

technically, they will send em out for free
but mine were supposed to arrive 3-4 weeks ago...gateway says they are "Back ordered"

maybe you will be more lucky then me.

and did you delete your recovery partition? if not, the drivers should all be in there.
if you still have your recovery partition(D:/ partition), use this link to install gateway recovery center and install your drivers from there.

Yeah....I noticed some aren't up there though.
The drivers section does NOT have:

    1) Complete driver set for Vista x64
    2) Complete driver set for Vista x32

Either way, you're in a tough pinch, if you do NOT have that recovery cd, from what I see on their site, ie, BlueTooth is for one of them only, etc...
    WiFi as well...

hzahreb05 - which drivers are you in need of that are NOT on the gateway site King Arthur links to above?

Second issue, is that recovery CD is not REALLY browsable - the folders have no identifying names, just numbers, so a bit of folder browsing will be required, but let me know what ya need.

I can't upload the whole DVD - it is over 2GB in size.

What drivers do you need? MOST of them are at the Gateway site that King Arthur posted a link to - which are you missing?

All you have to do, is let us know WHICH Vista you will load, so we will know which drivers are missing from the support site.
Not that difficult, really - you're making it much harder than it really is.

Good luck with the service center - I hope all goes well.

can i suggest to the op to relax and take it more lightly
    all the drivers are downloadable

right click on my computer / manage / device manager
and let us know which one are missing so we can point you
there is no place that can host 1.8gb file for free, and there is realy no need to waste money on this. you are not the first and not the last that stood in that position.

just relax, people will help if you know what to ask.

Yeah - but filedropper ain't gonna help with my 256kbit upload speed on my freaking Bellsouth *FIBER* because they refuse to do above 256/1536 over IFITL. And I don't want to move to Comcast and be throttled...

Well, geez, I guess being stuck at 256/1536 kinda' *IS* being throttled, huh?

Don't feel bad, I have 10mbps down and 512k up. What is that? Decent download speed then completely gelded upload. My last place ,which was controlled by Cox Communications was 15mbps down and 2mbps up. It was great.

Well, I *DO* feel bad - thanks for rubbin' it in!
I have like 1/8th your bandwidth - have some decency, would ya?

I gotta roll-the-dice just to see if hulu.com will actually work for me, or if my kids Xbox360 will suck up the bandwidth. Then I end up seeing 250,000 actors with a st-st-stttttutter.

LOL. I wasnt trying to rub it in, I was just comparing the HUGE ratio difference between my up and down. If I were you, I'd just say fooog it and go with Comcast. I know several people on it and they've never been throttled. Granted they don't download as much as some do, they still do their fair share of it.
