Okay, I think I will go to best buy tomorrow and pick up that cooler (if you think it is a good one) and see what it does for me. I think all you do is unscrew the old cooler and replace it with the new one yea? There is not thermal paste involved is there?

As for the temps I totally understand what your saying. So I guess its just pick whatever program you like the best and go off of that one as your median.

Lol damm, installed crysis warhead and my max on my hwmonitor is 81C* i get about 25-31fps on fullscreen 1440x900 with all high and enthusiast textures. Damm im amaze also, because from 1920x1200 to 1680x1050 to 1440x900 they all look freaking the same. I dont know if its just me but it looks the same to me on any of those 3 resolutions. It doesnt get blurry like on other games. Like on guildwars, i bump it down to a 1680x1050, damm it gets blurry as hell. Little bit of overclocking should let me play crysis with a more descent frame rate.

Hmm maybe when i swap the cpu also, ill get better framerates and more stable platform. I feel like the cpu is holding me back with the P8400. And by the way capper, where do i buy that icd7 thermal compound? When i buy the thermal compound, does it come with thermal pads? Or do i have to buy those seperately?

The P8400 is a good energy efficient or budget CPU. Upgrading the CPU will help, although maybe not dramatically. Remember that most games are GPU intensive.

If you are worried about framerates, drop the resolution to the lowest accetable (1024x768 or 1440x900), then make adjustments to the GPU settings (maybe switch from Quality to Performance, disable AA, etc). You can always make small adjustments with settings that will improve the framrates.

As far as the thermal compounds and thermal pads, Petras is a great place....good people and good service.:

The thermal pads are out of stock everywhere....

Hey capper, yea i already switched everything to performance no aa and i play it at 1440x900 yawp still 24-31fps but. Its pretty playable looks great also. Everything max (high) DX10 unless i put shadows, postprocessing, and motion blur on mainstream, i get about 34-50 fps.

Ill probably be looking at new drivers and overclocking the gpu pretty soon. Ntune is great for this i think. What do you use capper?

I dont typically worry about all the eye candy. I don't usually OC my graphics.....just keep the drivers updated and turn down some of the settings.

With the T9900 and updated drivers, if you still cant get acceptable framerates, check out the overclocking guide here on the foums, and if that doesnt help much, you are pretty much limited to a faster notebook (I'd love to have the OCZ whitebook)

You know what i just realized capper? I should have kept my 1440x900 WXGA one. You already knoe the reason why probably. And now i know why gateway puts wxga instead of wuxga now. Dammit took me so long to realize it. I compared my brothers wxga 1440x900 vs my wuxga 1920x1200 on crysis, he gets all eye candies almost enthusiast settings and got good frame rates and not semi blurry. I dropped mine at 1440x900 and everything seemed so blurry. And this is not just crysis, almost all the gamea we both have such as guildwars, wow, l4dead, far cry2, counter strike, and alot more. Wxga gets eye candies and frames. Oh gosh i got soo dissapointed right away.

And 1 more thing, my 1920x1200 res on games, looks alot better on 1440x900 on his and looks xactly the same. This is my opinion.

Ok, head over to Guru3D and download EVGA Precision 1.7.....then download rthdribl_1_2 and HWMonitor..

I am running the 9800M GTS at 600/1206/441 and the temps are maxing out at 73C after about 20 minutes of rthdribl.

I'm sure I could squeeze a little more out of the card, but thats probably enough to see a decent increase in gaming performance.

ah, looking at the "Default" that EVGA Precision shows....it says 400/800/300. Yeah, I never OC my video card.....I'm happy to help you explore the settings, but I always recommend against it. I'm still looking for the OC guide here on the forums to link for you.

Capper, thanks for all the great info. Do you think there is very much difference in the t9600 vs t9900?

I don't know the T9600 but my P-7811 FX with the T9900 is unbeliavably fast...and it runs fairly cold (I did not undervolt, just used IC Diamond as thermal paste, following Capper suggestion)......after a 3 hours flight in MS Flight Simulator with all the add-ons and the like no component was over 70 degrees Celsius....

The T9800 is a great processor. You wont see much difference between it and the T9900....its when you make the jump from the P8400 to a much faster processor that you will see the big difference.

Capper5016 and saturno_v are the T9900's you bought from computerupgradekings and extremeprocessor the real deal? I mean OEM and stepping E0?

I really want to get this cpu but it looks oddly cheap (~430$) while in the few shops it just came out it's almost 600$.

Also those ebay sellers seem to have them from quite a while in stock.

Any help deciding is much appereciated,

    Thanks

PS* does anyone know it the heatsink uses pads on a clevo m860tu?

Yes expremeprocessor is very honest, real OEM processor, fast shipping, careful packaging...

    You can trust him completely.

    Get one...you will not repent.....the T9900 is fantastic...just follow Capper 's guide to install as I did...use ICD7..

$430 seems about right for an OEM processor...remember a lot of shops tend to price gouge. Mine is an E0 according to CPU-Z and is stamped with SLGEE. Have had mine over a month now with no issues at all....very happy with it.

I have a driver disk.....let me find it and I'll upload the driver for you.

I created an ISO of the disk, all you need to do is download IMGBURN, unzip this file, and then make a disk from the image, and you'll have a copy of the actual driver disk.

Its 277MB, so hit me up via PM and I'll email it to you.

FYI, new Intel CPUs coming out Sep. 15th (or 16th) and Oct. 10th. Crossing my fingers for a p9800 or p9900 :D

Anyone know of Turbo Memory works with the 78xx series?

How much gaming performance would you say you have gotten out of the T9900 over the P8400 percentage-wise? This question goes out to all T9900 users on the p7805u as well.
