I've been reading about the issues with NVIDIA GPUs, but as far as I know, Gateway hasn't said anything regarding the problem. If you haven't read about it, take a look here. My understanding is that the fix from NVIDIA has been basically to release drivers that tell your GPU fan to run non-stop to try to fix the high temperatures that are causing the problems.
The problem has been said to be widespread with 8400M and 8600M GPUs, but what about the 8800GTS in the FX series? Has anyone heard anything?

I don't think that the problem will occur with the Gateway P series because 8800M GTSs are fabricated using a 65nm process, while the 8400/8600 is 80nm, so NVIDIA might have used different suppliers of the "defective" materials so these GPUs might not be affected at all.

thats ok my desktop 8800 runs 70-72C under load
thermal shutdown is 120C just fyi..not sure on laptop version though
