I got a USB bluetooth dongle but I might break it one day. I am thinking of buying Dell bluetooth model 355 to install into my Gateway ML6720. is it compatible with this laptop?

The bluetooth module is a standardized chip for all laptops, I believe.

Based on dell instruction, I need to connect the module to the 4-pin USB connector. where can I find this connector on the gateway?

should be inside a mini pcd slot im not sure

 where is mini pcd slot?
I just opened up a couple places, such as RAM, HHD, card reader, but did not see anything. -

here is the picture

its a mini PCI i dunno if it will fit your laptop -

My laptop (ML6720) board layout is different. I did not see that mini PCI connector there.
anyone got ML6700 or similar and tried to add the bluetooth? I am a little frustrated with little support from Gateway -

could you give us some pic of your laptop insides? maybe we can point something out

I will post a picture later when I got home. I opened my laptop again last night and I saw it has one mini PCI Express slot which is used by the Wireless G card. Next to it is an empty space, where Card reader is located. It seems that the laptop got only one mini PCI-e. that make sense since this is a budget laptop.
if I want to install a bluetooth card, I have to remove the wireless G card.
is there any mini PCI-e card that offer both wireless G and bluetooth? like a combo card? -

edit: can mod pls delete the last 3 posts, internet got laggy and posted it 4 times ><

unfortunately, I looked at this MSI combo card before and it is mini PCI but not mini PCI Express. Express is the new interface.
below is the screenshot of my laptop device manager. the Realtek wireless card (last one) is an USB-interfaced one, and the NIC card is PCI-e one. but from the previous pic, the card occupying the pci-e slot got two antenna wires attached to it. so that card must be a wireless card. however, from device manager, it said the Realteck wireless card is USB one, not pci-e.
which card is currently occupying the PCI-e slot, from my previous picture?

I have the same laptop, i've also been searching for a Wifi+Bluetooth Mini PCI-E combo. I found one a month ago but it wasn't out on the market yet.
The reason the wireless shows up as USB is because the Mini PCI-E spec has USB 2.0 intergrated into it. This means manufactures can choose between using USB or PCI-E for their card interfaces using the same slot.
I'll try to find that card I found. -

I found some creative ways to add bluetooth inside a notebook. these methods are beyond my will.
1) method 1
2) method 2: doing a surgery
