The bluetooth module is a standardized chip for all laptops, I believe.

My laptop (ML6720) board layout is different. I did not see that mini PCI connector there.

anyone got ML6700 or similar and tried to add the bluetooth? I am a little frustrated with little support from Gateway

I will post a picture later when I got home. I opened my laptop again last night and I saw it has one mini PCI Express slot which is used by the Wireless G card. Next to it is an empty space, where Card reader is located. It seems that the laptop got only one mini PCI-e. that make sense since this is a budget laptop.

if I want to install a bluetooth card, I have to remove the wireless G card.
is there any mini PCI-e card that offer both wireless G and bluetooth? like a combo card?

Here is my laptop picture. the Yellow arrow points to RAM slot. Red arrow points to one mini PCI-e used by wireless card. Blue arrow points to an empty space. The black rectangular at this blue arrow is the card reader.

unfortunately, I looked at this MSI combo card before and it is mini PCI but not mini PCI Express. Express is the new interface.

below is the screenshot of my laptop device manager. the Realtek wireless card (last one) is an USB-interfaced one, and the NIC card is PCI-e one. but from the previous pic, the card occupying the pci-e slot got two antenna wires attached to it. so that card must be a wireless card. however, from device manager, it said the Realteck wireless card is USB one, not pci-e.

which card is currently occupying the PCI-e slot, from my previous picture?

I have the same laptop, i've also been searching for a Wifi+Bluetooth Mini PCI-E combo. I found one a month ago but it wasn't out on the market yet.

The reason the wireless shows up as USB is because the Mini PCI-E spec has USB 2.0 intergrated into it. This means manufactures can choose between using USB or PCI-E for their card interfaces using the same slot.

I'll try to find that card I found.
