Is the clear coat on our notebooks (i.e. 7805u) similar to cars? I just detailed my car and was thinking of doing it to the notebook. Soap/water > Cleaner Wax > Carnauba Wax. Wondering if anyone has done this? Maybe will prevent fingerprints?

I think if you're very careful, you wouldn't hurt anything, but that there's a lot of risk for a small reward.

I would worry, too, that a coat of wax and buffing would make an already slick surface harder to grab; i.e. you'd have a greater chance of dropping it.

Its a gateway laptop mate... not a ferrari. Just take some damp microfiber and give it a good cleaning.

I think that you're just putting too much into this. No matter how shiney you make it we still have Gateways. And while these are some of the best gaming rigs for their price points on the planet... its not a sager.

Really you have too much time on your hand if you take the time out of your day to wax a laptop. I love my computer, but at the end of the day its still just a computer

Good point is this, keep them clean and in 100% shape, adds to resale value. I always use windex to clear fingerprints and such, keeps it in brand new condition, I also leave all the protective plactics on aswell.. Just a point.
