TL;DR WARNING: contains no performance related information

    No offline mode...

Wanna play Single Player? Better have good internet!

I have 3 friends who bought it, and are neighbors in an area with satellite, which for them means from time to time (often infact, but normal and "unimportant" by the provider) it disconnects, or drops packets... I have been told they have already requested refunds...

I have DSL where I live and while I dont drop completely, I do have some packet loss at peak times, AND at lease once or twice a week we see the AT&T tech's out in my area (its a rather large area, only AT&T or sat sadly) doing work (definitely not upgrades...), so I wouldn't trust my connection to play it reliably either...
Make no mistake I have no problem's with MMO's and other online games, but from what I have read so far, even a few dropped packets and it boot's you and you lose your progress + have to relog...

I also read (and much of this is on the official forums guys, there's 20x more elsewhere, but reading it on the official forums is so much better) that its limited to 4 players for grouping... 4 players... 4... just 4...

There are plenty of other reasons not to get it if you do a SIMPLE internet search... BUT you are asking for performance information... which I dont have :(

So if you read this looking for performance information, I am sorry, it was more of a "why im boycotting" it... (much like I did for SC2)

Also, which model laptop you got? I haven't had issues with any game I have thrown at my P-7805u... maybe not highest settings, but no issues otherwise.

On my 7805u (w/1920x1200 screen) I can't run at max settings or it gets a bit sluggish when there's lots of stuff on the screen. I'm only running the starter edition right now so can only get to the skeleton king in Act1.

Not sure if it would be better/worse later on. I'd assume worse if there is even more mobs on the screen...

I haven't really messed with settings yet to see what I should be turning down to get it to play smoother though..

Kinda surprises me that I can run BF3 at slightly higher settings then D3...

D3 is not a hard game to run, if you can play mid aged 3d games you can play Diablo 3.

What specs you have on your 7807u? if your on stock your not going to be able to max the game but it will do a few highs and mediums quite well.

I have a P-7805, all settings maxed out and 1920x1200 it plays smooth, so far played the first act till beating skeleton king.

True about internet connection, sometimes there is lag and occasional disconnects, which sucks big time, also be careful that if you buy a key online and you get a Russian one then you are gonna get stuck playing in Russian, no way to change to English, this can also happen if you get a hard copy in Latin America, some parts in Asia, they are calling this crap the limited and unlimited editions. Only unlimited get to change the language.

I'm totally stock and tend to turn my games down to as low as it takes to never notice video lag. I'm west coast so usually my latency is really low when I play as I think I am close to the battle.net servers. I think in my case it is a bottleneck somewhere in my system. I was fortunate and got one of the 7807u that came with P8700 (2.53 Ghz) and 9800M GTS w/ 1Gb DDR3. The hard drive is 7200RPM as well. I have the stock 4Gb of RAM installed. Obviously not great today but it played WoW on all high settings unless in a 25 man raid.

I've contemplated upgrading RAM and HD but am wary of putting any money into it. It has lasted me three years without a problem and plays most what I throw at it. But I know it is on the curve and will fall off it very soon.

Any thoughts or opinions on a cheap but effective upgrade that could help? I run Win 7 home 64bit and Nvidia drivers are up to date.

I suggest to go for an SSD. That way, if and when you get a new laptop, you can take the drive to the new system. Bun in case you need a slight increase in gaming performance, go for a faster CPU.
