Did anyone get a Vista restore disc with their 7805u? Has anyone successfully recovered their 7805u via recovery cds?

I installed a game that my friend got for me(not a retail game) and I trusted him(stupid) without scanning it first. He unknowingly gave me a trojan virus and now I want to do a clean install. I initially wanted to do it when I first got the 7805u but I was hesitant and I ended up just manually removing the bloatware.

My other 7805u(that I exchanged because the AC adapter didn't work) wouldn't fully recovery when I used the Recovery DVD's that I created. I tried to reinstall Vista about 20 times and it could never get pasted 54% on the second DVD. I'm scared that will happen again because I cannot exchange this one for fear of getting a 1400X900 screen.

Can anyone help me out and give me advice?

You need to get a Vista 64-bit Installer disc
Use your license (on the sticker underneath)
Download any drivers you may need afterwards.

Where would I get a Vista 64 bit installer disc? Would I have to talk to gateway? I tried doing that already but they kept trying to tell me that I was an idiot because my serial number is wrong (apparently they have no record of this thing on their database). After an hour of waiting and being treated like a moron (apparently I don't know how to correctly locate the serial number) I gave up.

If you know someone that has a Vista64 disc that you could borrow for an hour or two, that is all you need. As Bravoexo said, just use the key from underneath.

If you don't know anyone PM me.
