Is it possible to disable the Intel Speed Stepping? I really want to turn it off when I'm using my laptop as a desktop.
-
Depending on the brand, you can shut it off in bios. -
Im running the P7803 FX its the same as the 7811FX just the Canadian version, I wanted to turn it off for when I am sitting at home using it as a desktop trying to get the best performance. I've read alot of the posts and it seems my PC runs extremely better then everyone else. I got 13000 3Dmark score, my CPU runs at 24C idle and max 27C. My GPU runs MAX 62C when gaming for hours on end, and it idles around 55C.
Im not sure why I got such a wicked laptop and things I guess I was lucky. -

13K LOL
Orb or it didnt happen mate.
To turn off your speed step the easiest thing would be to install RM clock and just lock out all other modifiers except for the highest one. Though the CPU will only throttle down if nothing is requireing its power. If an application is demanding the power then the CPU will run at its max speed until the application no longer demands the processing power -
I get over 13k on my desktop with a quad core OCed to 3.33Ghz and a 8800GTX, highly doubt you can reach that without OCing notebook CPU to 4Ghz and GPU to 700/1800 (and then you would hear a distinct sizzling sound).

Here you go.

Please make your ORB score public so we have a direct link, not just a screen shoot. Like this:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=12267173
EDIT: What version of 3Dmark is that suppose to be? 03? Use the 2006 version or Vantage. -
That's what I was about to ask. No way it's 06
-
I have no idea how you do that I just started to use 3dmark, like make an account u mean then do it again? The vanteck link thing gave me this error 4 times "
There is a problem with the URL parameters.
"
I also only have the free version. -

You see a 3Dmark 2006 with a download link, get that and if you want 3Dmark Vantage (though that program only lets you run it once for free). 2006 lets you keep 6 scores in ORB with the free version and most of us still use it since Vantage really tells you squat unless you have an uber computer.
EDIT: Just bought 06, its only $20 bucks. -

Comparisons need to be with 3DMark06 in 1280x1024 resolution. If it's not, you can't compare it and you definitely shouldn't be bragging saying you got 13,000, because that's not a correct comparison to other scores.
With a 2GHz CPU, there's no way, not even close. -
I GOT IT!!! Its not as a good but from what I've seen people are getting my score with way better CPU's. I got a "copy" of 3DMARK06 here is the score it wont let me post cuz mine is 1.02 and they use 1.10 now.

Like I said, that resolution you just posted is using 1440x900, so you cannot compare it to the results people have using the 1280x1024 resolution. If you want to use the 1280x1024 resolution to compare but have the 1440x900 screen you need to use an external monitor that supports that resolution.
-
The performance of you video card is effected by your res, so the 9800M GTS will perform better at 1440x900 the 1920x1200, so when you run a bench you keep it set to 1280x1024 a sort of default that every one uses to gauge one system to another no matter the res. Just let '06 run with default settings, no extra hardware feature tests or AA/AF.
-
defult settings was 1280x800 and there is no 1280x1024 and its not going to matter I mean the bigger the res the worse the FPS right? Well anyways thats my score even if u hate my noob benchmarking. I LOVE MY FX.

I believe he was using 3Dmark05.

I don't know how many different ways I can type it, just trying to help you understand since you clearly didn't saying you originally had a score of 13000 and then saying -
Yeah but I don't have an external monitor and 1440x900 has a ratio of 1.6:1 where as 1280x1024 has a ratio of 1.25 hence 1440x900 is larger. I also just realized I was using 3DMARK05 when I got the 13000 score.

Actually 1440x900 = 1,296,000 and 1280x1024 = 1,310,720 pixles so the later is the slightly larger. the 800 pixles is only 78% of the 1024 pixles so the gpu and video memory is taxed way less. This is why they market gaming lapops at the lower resolution so that at native resolutons the system will be able to play the games better.
Edit; I have the 1920x1200.......... -
You have way to many PCs lol dam, but cool. I really appreciate all you guys contribute to the FX community. I was wondering, im getting a 3RD 500GB this tomorrow so ill have two 7200rpm and I'm gonna setup RAID0. I have always been an XP fan but the lack of driver support is pissing me off.
In windows 7, does the 9800GTS still "freeze" every 30 seconds or so? Also the does the microphone work because in XP it doesn'tSo im considering the windows 7 switch sadly. I love my XP!

With Win7 RC my P-7805 runs flawlessly with all drivers. I do not have RAID0 so I can not speak for that but you should be fine. Hopefully though someone with it can chime in to give a definative answer.........
Soon plan to add a 1820PT or Gateways incarnation, assuming they ever come out........
