When ever I have a disk in my P-6860's Drive when starting up now it causes the start to freeze and go really slow. As soon as I got a paper clip and opened the drive start up continued normally. What could be wrong with my drive or computer?

to me that sounds normal, most stock settings for laptops is to check hard drives/ optic drives... any type of storage for another means of boot.
when i have my external HDD my lappy takes quite a bit longer to start.
If you want to skip that, go into your settings (pre-boot..F10/8<--or something =P) and change it so it checks your c drive first.
    Good luck ^^
