Hey everyone..I just wanted to share my experience with Gateway...I had originally ordered a Gateway 171X back on Feb. 1st...then cancelled the order on Feb. 8th (in favor of a Sager 5793). I received the usual B.S. e-mail from them at first trying to get me to keep the order ("We'll prioritize your order for you") bah blah...finally on Feb. 8th, they agreed to cancel the order and even gave me the cancellation # etc. Yesterday I got an e-mail from Gateway Customer Service telling me that my P-171X was delayed and wouldn't ship until April 1st...but it would certainly ship out and I should receive it the first week of April. LOL....This after I officially cancelled the order more than a month ago...I'm glad I didn't go through on this order for on other reason that by the time I would've received it...it's value will inherently be just that much lower...plus HD-DVD is worthless now...Anyway...I just thought it was crappy of Gateway lol....and I think it sucks with the delay..notebooks are not something you want to have to wait long on...because of the exponential increase in technology..the more time goes by..the less it really is worth..

Wow ! that's kind of hilarious you mean that you cancelled the order and they still sent you an e-mail stating that your order will be shipped in April.

Well maybe they will still ship it to you and you can get it for free.. !! But knowing them if they screwed up like that they probably would go back into their records and charge the credit card on file for the price of the machine.I hope that I will not have to contact them anytime soon for any issues. I used the tech support chat once but the guy did not seem knowledgable and he posted a link to the Gateway support site in the box and said have a great day. I had already went there and read the information that he directed me to which is why I was contacting them in the first place. LOL :p

Just my 2 cents worth- I purchased the Gateway® P-171S FX Edition last week. I had an issue with the computer, and while the tech support people were helpful, the customer service rep was the rudest person I have ever dealt with in my life. ( I am 49 years old and I have purchased numerous systems over the years.)
Perhaps this was an isolated instance? I don't know, but I will never buy from Gateway again.
