First sorry if this has been posted before, I tried to search but I didn't find anything relevant to my problem.

What's bugging me about this display is that it somehow seems like its too bright, the blacks arent black enough, the colors don't seem to be alive enough. If I turn the brightness down, I dry everything up without that sensation going away. I've played around with contrast, digital vibrance and both the nvidia settings brightness and the brightness control on the keyboard and I still haven't found a comfortable setting.

It's specially annoying when watching movies or playing games.

I'm using the 177.66 drivers. Can you guys share your color settings?

What I've got so far on the nvidia control panel:
    Brightness: 50%
    Digital Vibrance: 60%
    Contrast: 50%
Image sharpening: None (it's grayed out)
    Gamma: 50%

This is the least annoying combination I've come across so far.

Dunno if this helps, but have you tried changing the color adjustments and adjust video color settings under video & television.

And that there, is the reason an LCD upgrade is imminent on my end.

In the nvidia display properties, I use brightness, contrast and gamma all at 40, and vibrance 12.

How come you never bothered to tweak anything besides vibrance? Give my settings a shot. :)

I never really got bothered by the screen until I was viewing some, uh, photos last night. Got really bad "glare" effect depending on where I had my head. Normally it doesn't bother me, but now I think I'll have to try some of these settings to see if it helps... ;)

I did tweak em! Hehe, still I'll give your settings a try.

I also followed DxJustin's tips and noticed an inmediate improvement on videos, have yet to try games (specially GRID was driving me insane since I'm playing side by side with my old desktop and my old philips lcd display on that one at the time seemed soo much better)

Thanks for the replies everyone. Keep 'em coming!

    Mine is set like this:

    Brightness: 40%
    Digital Vibrance: 25%
    Contrast: 47%
    Gamma: 48%

I was kind of comparing it next to my Gateway FHD2400 at work, although that's a TN panel as well. The laptop display can't get exactly the same look as the 24" LCD, obviously, but I think I got a nice compromise with those settings with the dark's looking dark and not being overly bright or washed out.

    Mine is set like this:

    Brightness: 50%
    Digital Vibrance: 50%
    Contrast: 50%
    Gamma: 5%

for me i was comparing it to my 24" BenQ FP241WZ an MVA panel.

That's not bad Infoseeker, I think I prefer that setting also, although I like it a bit brighter, setting the gamma around 20-25%

I agree... the display is the one thing about the 6860 that bothers me. Editing photos is particularly annoying because the colors and vibrancy end up so different from the print. Comparing it to my 24" Dell LCD is just painful. I'll play around with some of the settings tonight and post my results.
