What Up, this is my first post, and I was just wanted to know your opinions and thoughts on Gateway laptops.... ive done some research on the web and everything points to Gateway being a bad brand and that their "moderboards" die quick.

Office Depot will have a sale tomorrow on their 14' Gateway T-6321 I believe. Specs Below:
    Gateway® Notebook Computer with Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core Mobile Processor T2370
    4.1" ULTRABRIGHT™ WIDESCREEN
3 GB of memory for the ultimate speed and performance.
    • 3GB DDR2 memory
    • 160GB hard drive
    • Reads and writes dual layer DVDs & CDs with LabelFlash™
    • Integrated webcam and microphone
    • Windows Vista® Home Premium with Service Pack 1
    • Integrated 802.11g wireless LAN

The Price is $550 US dollars. Now that is very cheap I think (at least for my budget). The only thing holding me back is that they dont last very long. I want a laptop that will last me a looong time. SO do you guys know if this is a good deal? Good Laptop?.. or should i just buy a Vaio and charge it to a credit card cuz I know they are expensive : /

Well, my brother bought a gateway laptop in early 2006, and last time I checked, it still worked fine. Turion 64, 1gb ram, 100gb hd, was about $700

He sold it to one of his friends, and they love it :D

I might pick one up. Is the promotion nationwide?

When I worked at Best Buy(til very very recently) the Gateways were our least serviced brand, other than Apple. That says something to me.

id10t error dfw - What do you mean? That they didn't sell or that they weren't returned for repairs?

I'm sure they're just fine. It eventually depends on how you take care of the laptop. Of course, there are more robust business class laptops like Dell's Latitude or Lenovo's Thinkpad but otherwise the Gateway you mention would be of the same quality as the other laptops.

my gateway t-1616 is still working like a charm. its been 9 months and im real proud of it surviving this long since i really move around in school alot and bring it wherever i go. gateways are awesome. not to mention cheap.

btw. gateway has been bought by acer who are doing a fine job of keeping the company with great quality laptops.

I have a gateway T series as well. I've owned it since Nov 07. So far so good, but one of the clips that hold the battery in place broke, on its own?! I never even messed with it, must have been messed up from the get go. It has been solid other than that.
