    effects effect :p

You would think the english language would have come up with better words than "effect" and "affect" to describe a similar meaning

But to answer you question yeah a little... but not so much that you will notice unless on a very high end game or a very low end system

Silent Software makes a program called AeroFoil that works pretty good. On my 17" behemoth I find it useful. Just auto disables some of Aero and the sidebar to save me a bit battery when unplugged. I see you have undervolted your rig, one of the best ideas to squeeze some extra life.

I just use the VistaBatterySaver program. Aero does affect battery life, but a little. On average, I get about 20 mins more with Aero disabled. Nothing to get overly excited about.

When a game is started up in Vista it shuts of aero and any graphical apps you have in the background in a futile attempt to optimized the OS for games.

As you may already know it still does poorly compared to XP.

That's easily over 10% more battery life and can make all the difference to some...
Some ppl will pay for a battery upgrade just to get that...

On your machine the effect of having Aero on is very minimal, it can handle it just fine. Your underclock as others have said is your best bet for actually saving any battery life.
