I have the M-6864FX. I would like to know if the Gateway Vista DVD will install bloatware on my notebook if I used it to reinstall Vista 64.
*edit*
Just to be clear, I'm talking about the Gateway Windows Vista Home Premium Operating System Disc.
It's "For distribution only with a new Gateway PC"....hmm I smell bloatware....

*Update*
According to Gateway's Support site, the Gateway Operating System Disc:
"...only reinstalls the Operating System and does NOT install drivers or applications."

After I move my files and download the drivers to my G:\ partition, I will clean install Vista using the Gateway Operating System Disc and report back here just to let you guys know. -
yup, which means forget worrying about bloatware, you better have the drivers ready or know where to find them!

As Jakamo5 mentioned, the Gateway Vista DVD will install just operating system, no drivers, no any other applications. The disc that you made as
the drivers recovery one, has the drivers and the programs. You can choose which application you want to reinstall. -
Thanks martee and Jakamo5.
I have clean installed Vista-64 using the Gateway Operating System Disc successfully and I'll report my results for anybody's future reference.
Yes the Gateway Operating System Disc did not contain any bloatware or drivers. I did not have to enter a serial key and I don't see any activation needed so far. I installed all of my drivers and everything seems to working smoothly. I was a bit worried because even after I installed my video drivers, I noticed some lag in opening windows and the start menu. I found that the Theme was set on Windows Classic by default. Once I changed the Theme to Aero, everything was quick and snappy again.
Just for reference, there were 2 reasons why I wanted for reformat C: and clean install Vista-64.
1. Wanted to get rid of all that bloatware that was factory installed.
2. I could not shrink my factory partitioned C:\ under 128GB. I tried guides on turning off system restore and hibernation. I even tried 3rd party disk management programs to try to defrag the important system files that may have caused in inability to shrink the C:\ past 128GB. Nothing really worked. So I ended up deleting the 128GB in the Vista Install Setup and shrinking my C:\ that way. -
Well, the 78-- discs do have the bloatware. The three discs image the original configuration with OS and bloatware back onto the hard drive.

The recovery discs that you made by yourself have the bloatware. That's positive.
The original Gateway recovery discs which were shipped along with notebooks have no bloatware, just Vista OS.
I suppose these discs were shipped till the first half of the 2008 with MT, M and P series of Gateway laptops. After that Gateway and other laptop makers stopped this procedure.
Do the Gateway Vista 32/64bit DVDs have bloatware?
