What is the current recommended order to install drivers for the P-7805u? I plan on doing a clean install when Vista SP2 RTM comes out next month and using my Vista Ultimate disc to do that. I already have an Applications and Drivers disc made up so I can use that.

I like to install the drivers off the Gateway driver disk first, before windows trys to install its drivers, in no order. Then the video driver (of your choice).

It really doesn't matter. I do video card drivers first and than the Internet drivers do I can download everything else after that.

It is recommended to install Chipset and SATA/Mass Storage Controller first.
The rest doesn't matter. Reboot the system each time.

I don't know if a reboot is needed for each driver install, ecept for the video driver. I install the video driver first, reboot, then all the drivers off the gateway driver disk then reboot.

It's better to reboot because some drivers complete installation during
log out and log in. I reboot after each one.

Ok. Just wanted to be sure. The disc I'll likely use is going to be an iso downloaded via Microsoft Technet when they release the SP2 slipstreamed discs.

    I agree.

Also, the re-boot may show a problem. If so, you'll have a better idea which driver it might be - probably the last one you installed.

    This helps somewhat when troubleshooting.

Yep. I usually reboot after most driver installs.
