    Drivers for FX P7811

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does anyone know or have the Vista 64 drivers that go to devices Ethernet Controller, Web Cam & Mass Storage Controller? Yes I assumed the drivers would be installed with the Vista restore disk and wiped w/clean install. No Gateway does not have them on websight. If nothing else I will go to BB and make a driver backup from demo model. Thanks

I *THINK* for those, it uses the same drivers as the 6860FX. Create a system restore point, then go to gateway.com and download the drivers needed for the 6860FX.

ou won't believe this I was going to go to BB and create the backup disk for drivers and BB wanted to charge me $39.99 to create a driver disk. I felt like telling them after spending $1500 @ their store they could kiss my #$%@. But I try to lead a Christian life! I'm glad someone posted the drivers. Thanks everyone.

Best Buy charges now charges $29.00 for recovery disc creation on a newly purchased CD. Manufactures will charge $49.99 + shipping assuming they even stock the needed disc set. I'm surprised they even offered it as a service to you, as creating one successful copy typically removes the ability to create another... sneaky move by manufacturers.

I would only buy a laptop model having an active forum community for just such a reason. That's why I'm here sniffin' butts and peeing on posts. So far the community has promise. I hope there is more hackin' and crackin' and modding advice coming. But the driver upload was sorely needed. Now XP 32 drivers are needed for those dual boot fans. So while I await the price reduction, I'll just hang around barking and howling.

    2 questions:
1- if i planned on reformating when i get this lappy, i should create some sort of driver restore disc? I keep hearing the drivers for this particular model are hard to come by
2- Syngen, you seem to be awfully confident there will be a price reduction. How can you be so sure?

Yes. You create the Drivers and Software disc.

No, just fooling around. Some here, who seem more familiar with the Gateway/Best Buy patterns, seem to think it may go down but I wouldn't count on it unless sales diminish. I simply don't know. I should be more careful with what I say. I'm just biding my time until my laptop video dies (any day now) or I just can't stand it any longer and buy one just because.

Sorry to have mislead you. :p

I'm being serious from here on out, no fooling around, life and death stuff!
