I have a Gateway P-173XL FX Edition Notebook PC - Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4GHz, Bluetooth, 802.11a/b/g/n Wireless, 4GB DDR2, 400GB HDD, DL DVDRW, 17" WUXGA, Fingerprint Reader, Webcam, Windows Vista Ultimate.

I had a RAID problem with one of my HDs, and I made a HUGE error by scrubbing one of the HDs before I fully understood the RAID system. Now I have a laptop that is running at less than 50% of it's capability because I have no drivers for many of the functions the machine is geared for.

I checked all the driver robot software tools that say they will search and find the right driver for my machine, but most the drivers I found do not work, or they barely make the different parts of my machine work. Like I don't have my drivers for my web cam, my sound, etc. etc. I could go on and on.

What I would like to know, is if there is anyone who owns the same machine that would be willing to burn a driver data base on a DVD for me, or copy the restore portion of the HD where all the drivers and factory settings are kept. Then I can install them on my laptop and get back into business?

I am asking here because Gateway does not seem to want to help me completely. They will cherry pick what they will send me and then tell me they will try with no guarantee of fully restoring my drivers. Then because my warranty is up they want to charge me for almost every driver and the time they spend doing so. Hell by the time they get done raping my pocketbook, I could have bought 3 machines for what they want to help. Almost two years ago I paid $1,700.00 for this machine.

I know someone out there has the same machine, and all I need is the restore portion of the HD that carries the factory restore part. Then I can restore my machine to the original factory settings and go from there.

PLEASE CAN SOME ONE HELP ME?

I am having some medical problems that make it real difficult for me to even work on it for very long, and then I get frustrated and set it aside. Then for the next few weeks I just get angry as I look at the thing sitting in the corner not being used because the drivers are all missing.

Have you tried the drivers on the gateway support site? Also many drivers like the graphics driver and touchpad driver should be found on other sites because Gateway does not supply the current version. BTW it takes 3 DVDs to make a backup of the recovery partition, which someone would have to mail to you.

I have some drivers I was able to get, but they are not the best for my system even though they do work. I realize it would take 3 DVDs, but I am willing to pay for them. I could then transfer them onto the HD via an enclosure where I could partition it and then have the pc look for the drivers as I update them.

I believe that would work, or I would just tell the program managers driver update to search the DVD for the best driver.

First I need to fins someone willing to work with me over the net. Then we can go from there to see what the best solution would be to help me with my dilemma.
