I'm considering an x9000 but want to know if the engineering samples are ok or not. Are they the same as the official ones?
Thanks!

I got mine from a seller on EBAY and from what I understand they are ALL Engineering Samples, but work fine. I hope this helps. God Bless
-
Note: Engineering Samples are sometimes DEFECTED!...they are after-prototype models....= sell for less.
-
I got mine and it works fine. I would look at thier return policy and warranty.
-
the x7800 is a better value imho, however it is an older generation and runs a bit hot.
i am very happy with mine(x7800es), i gave it loads of hard time.
no problem at all. the guy i bought it off ebay was really great, he promised money back on anything but physical damage. -
Did you guys with the x9000's do any tourture testing on the processors when you got them into your laptops to check for errors? They recomend doing it over a 24 hour period, with a program like "Prime95". That's what I did when I installed my T9300..........just curious.
Seanno -
I did not run a test for 24 hours, but I did run it was either Prime95 or some other CPU extensive test for about 3-4 hours straight and the temps were IIRC right around 60-65 degrees celcius. -
yep and my chip is running like a champ.
-
how much did you pay for the x9000?
-
when i bought it. 612.00 total for over night delivery
-
i got the x7800 for less than half.
including international shipping. -
royk50, can you post a link to that great deal?
-
what link...i tried to go grab one and they wern't there....rotflmao
-
I would personally stick with the X9000. There are some on eBay for about £220 or $420. They stay a lot cooler than X7800/7900 chips and that's quite important with a laptop like this.
-
well i never had issues of over heating, even while running crysis for over 6 hours or lately mass effect for days
look here : http://stores.ebay.com/genius-hearts
he got it all !
this guy was so impressed from my 3dmark score
we had very good communication.
however i did decide to stick with 2.8ghz for 24/7 not that i had any issues just my gut feeling.
looking again at the prices, if i needed another cpu, it would have been probably a t9500. -
I spent about $300 for T9300, how much faster is the x9000 with overclocking?
-
if you had a clevo or a sager... you could mat the x9000/x7800/x7900 in 3.0 ghz rating, but in it's current rig...a few seconds slower... i think 6 seconds using vprime or something like that. (speculation of course)
-
Is the x9000 really a big improvement over the T9300?
-
about 5 to 6 seconds faster in computing...
-
I assume with overclocking right? I didn't think the extra $300 would be worth it to get the x9000 over T9300
I'm still hoping that a Quad core chip would be available in the future for this motherboard -
no. that would be stock. and that 5 or 6 seconds start to pick up over time.
quad core huh....well them quad cores sure aren't going to be cheaper than a t9300 that's for sure. -
Also, how do these sellers get engineering samples?
How do I know that they are not defective ? -
the first gen chips are stamped usually with es on them, but we shall see...some one is getting an x9000 with a b1 stepping.
mine is a co stepping with all intel codes on it, but not stamped on the chip it self.
and the ones released were go and mo stepping... (speculation of course) -
as per stepping with our laptops - can we use any of the x9k steppings or is there a list we have to make sure? (so we don't buy the wrong one and it doesn't work)
-
good call!
and i just checked intels site and the GO was the released version of the x7900 and MO is the released version of the x9000.
so the B1 must be first then the CO then the public versions of the x9000
and as far as i can tell...seems to be no real difference between the two x9000 chips. (speculation of course) and i have been looking!

I just got myself a P-6831FX and brought a X9000 ES of ebay that your commenting on. Mine is a stepping B1, so far its running good, however I cannot view the temps.
Johnksss, are you able to view your X9000 ES temp? If so, how? I'm using CPUZ, RMClock and CPUID HW monitor and its listed as N/A
Maybe its something to do with my bios as you have a 6860FX?
With the X9000 I have finally just made it over 10,000 points in 3dmark.Attached Files:

Quad core CPUs will not be happening on this chipset. Next gen stuff will be capable of it.
-
Under full load folding proteins 24/7 trying to break the damn thing with no luck so far...same stepping as John. Kind of a gamble purchasing one of these off ebay I believe but had good communication with the seller I purchased mine from and covered my butt the best way I knew how by using Paypal Buyer Credit so I went for it. Was also offered a Square Trade warranty for cheap but declined which you may wanna ask about or check if available. Purchased in February. -
does yours show up as mine, when using cpu.... meaning it shows all the intel marks under specifications.
-
The above is what the latest revision of CPU-Z/ID is showing me, fresh screenshot. Hope I understood your question correctly as to what you wanted to know John. -
yep, so you have a full working and marked x9000.
now just need to knowif all the b1's are marked on the chip itself with the ES on it. -
Where can I get a x9000? What do they seem to be going for? I want something that clocks atleast at 2.5. Id prefer anything between 2.8 and 3. Any suggestions?
Also, anyone have any successful CPU oc's with the 6860? -

seems someone from here bought one and is now selling it on ebay....(speculation of course)

man! them chips are selling like hot cakes....it's like only 2 people left selling them. -
-
OK its not marked on the chip itself. Just some strange numbers. I finally got to see the temps running in Everest Ultimate. It running very well. The only bad thing i can see about this ES stepping B1 is when you view your computer (right click) it listed as a Genuine Intel(R) and thats it. No mention of Extreme Core 2 Duo X9000oh well it was at a good price.
Max temp after 1 hour of stress tests in Everest was 84 degrees C. Is that good? Its gets to about 80 and the fans hit full speed and it never gets past 84.
Its also undervolted using RMclock - 3 Ghz @ (VID) 1.200Volts 100% stable. I run the x9000 always at 3Ghz and my 8800 GTS at 650 / 970Mhz 100% no issues. -
with this spec i see no reason for u to use any frawny emoticon, most people i know would be jumping all over hitting their head across the ceiling.
the temps seem quite reasonable, your cpu top is 105c so no problem, just make sure you don't block the ventilation on the bottom when stressing it. -
I think all the ES X9000 are good, no matter what the stepping is. And worth it. I mean I paid a good price. Got it off Ebay for 469 AUD. Which is about 400USD?
-
I am waiting for a deal like that.
-
And here is such a deal -> http://cgi.ebay.com/Intel-Core-2-Ex...yZ147129QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
He has 1 left, you better get in quick. I brought mine from this same guy.
Its stepping B1 -
Is B1 stepping good?
-
Its in Aust.
just might snap it up...... NOT
$500 wowzers Core2Insane! -
You really want the C0 stepping as it is the same as retail.
-
Just fine, Im running mine at 3ghz no issues and undervolted to 1.20 -
Well it seems a better price for me as I paid in euros so its like half. -
very nice! glad to hear it's working fine!
also, im begining to think we are actually setting it to the correct voltage, because the mo version is under 1.2 volts. -
-
only thing that will happen is it ill lock up or shut off. nothing major...just save your work first..lol
and run that 3dmark06 now. with gpu clocks like those...should put you up in the 11k range or pretty damn close! -
I was talking about with the T5550.
-
ES x9000's on ebay - are they good?
