you probably can...but alot of this stuff has to do with what the enable and disable in the inf file
edit: people think they are 3dmarking with stock clocks using a new driver, but the reality of it is...they are using someone elses idea of how their card should run. which in turns is....over clocking..lol (speculation of course)
-
10985 3dm06 points in default. Not quite 11000. How did you get 11,000 points by the way??
Vista x64 is good, but lacks stabel overclocking drivers. I think I'll go back to x64, even if i lose like 1000 3dmark points. I think the OS is slighty quicker and i have an extra 1gb of ram to eat up. -
default? default is 1280x1024
and doing exactly what your doing now...moving the sliders around. nothing fancy yet, but working on it...lol -
-
mine is running at 1.188v right now
edit: tried 1.150 and it blue screened. guess that's why it's an es version...lol -
Seems stable now @ 3.0ghz - 1.15 volts and im typing this as its running the everest stress test. Max temp has dropped 1 degree too 83c. Will have a screen up in a set. Just want to run the stress test a bit more.
This thing could do 3.2ghz easy, if only the damn bios would let us. Johnnkss you seem to know a bit. Any way to pin mod this X9000 some how soft mod or force the multipuler to let us hit 3.2 or 3.4 ?? -
yep, should run at 1.15 volts
http://processorfinder.intel.com/Details.aspx?sSpec=SLAQJ
and as far as the uping the speed of the cpu. i just need a copy of our bios and i can up our chip to 3.6 ghz from what i have seen in the 6831 bios. (speculation of course) -
-
hahahahahahaha, it crashed
675/1000 undervolted at 1.15 -
-
Where do you set the voltage on the cpu's? And when I get my x9000 what voltage should I run it at? Or can I just leave it as is?
-
using rmclock. click on profiles. then set your voltage there.
-
the undervolting guide
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=235824 -
Will I need to mess with the voltage in the first place?
' -
nope. not if you dont want to...it's strictly optional.
we are working both ends of the spectrum here...over clocking to max playable conditions and undervolting and and powering down gpu for max battery conditions. -
Overclocking and undervolting the same time sounds silly. Since higher clock speeds require more voltage, undervolting does the complete opposite.
But there is a sweet spot for the OC'd clock speeds. You can still find the optimised voltages for it.
I suggest you guys put a 1-2 step voltage margin from your unstable voltages. This will make sure stability isnt compromised.
You guys make me jealous. I want a x9000!
btw i saw this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=110252547912 -
once im done, then i will set my laptop back. -
news update.
a friend of mine just got the x9000 off of ebay. with b1 stepping. and while running vprime it shut off every time. -
So what does that mean?
-
means it's no good. the temps are too high and the chip is shutting off completely. (speculation of course) waiting on him to try rmclock to change the voltage.
-
well thats good info for when I get one
-
yes it is. still waiting on him to reply back..
-
interesting ES tidbit. http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=407
-
Now I'm afraid! Well, so far I haven't had any problems, hopefully that will last.
-
-
What is MO Stepping?
-
that would be the retail release version. b1/co/mo in that order...b series can have up to 3 stages i think.
-
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320263107092&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123
waiting on verification of this one.... it's suppose to be MO -
I with I had the exrta cash for it, my wife just got my a blackberry curve, its cool to have a wife that thinks like a guy, but, damn, I wish she got me that x9000
-
waiting on the new samsung phone that's coming out... im more than tired of this ppc7600 i got now.
and in other news...this guy has the CO version of the x9000
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320263107092&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123 -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160249847967
this one is also CO.
and the CO's are the final versions before the MO's -
-
my x7800 is reported by cpuz to be revision e1
however Intel Processor ID Utility say its revision 92
-
Side note, P-6831fx's are selling on ebay for $760.00 + shipping, wow
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...8567&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab=Watching -
Well I bought mine for $895 on ebay, and it is AWESOME! Now I want to upgrade the CPU to the X9000 but I'm probably gonna wait for a while for the price to drop a bit! I was thinking about the X7800 but people are saying that they cause problems!
-
money must grow on trees these days! -
Hey johnksss your after a Gateway bios right? I know that esupport.com reports an updated bios for our mother boards. But at 29.95!!!!! (Its a scam or what?)
Even if it does not enable 3.2ghz on our X9000 if we can get hold of the bios even an old version you could edit it right and enable higher multipliers for the Extreme CPU's? -
yes and at 29.95..direct me there....lol
-
Depends, I didn't really spend much extra. Becasue I sold my old Dell XPS and use that money to get the gateway and the X9000. The sale of my old XPS M170 covered 80% of my costs on the new system. I just had to pay a little more. -
-
-
unless that really is -
Would it be easy to flash back? I guess if it failed we could reflash the original back right or would we have a dead noebook? -
edit: they must have just came with this update, because i could have sworn them people told me the laptop was still too new for a bios update. -
johnkss and hendrickson: I applaud both of you guys trying to edit the bios for the x9k. I myself will purchase an x9k soon when I can afford it but it would be awesome if we could overclock it to it's full potential like what you guys are trying to do. If you guys can - please keep working on it and keep us informed. Maybe, even, start a new thread just on this subject.
-DRTH_STi -
shoot..we are just trying to catch up to the sagers/clevos/m860tu's & the xps's
lol
edit: i would say the hdx dragon, but no one seems to want to supe one of them up just yet. they could over take a p6831/6860/172fx in the 3dmark06 with a cpu over clock. cant see imac's beating us out though. (8800m gts class. 1 card) -
any time you need test pilots
SHOUT
ES x9000's on ebay - are they good?
