    Easy fix for the orange # keys

    One thing I really don't like about the FX series is the orange number keys.
    I was first going to cut new number keys to replace the orange number keys out of vinyl sign material and then I found this sight.

    My glow keys are on the way. With a litle more imagination they could have added a FPS subsets for pistol, rifle, cannon or for the RPG crowd, bolt, fireball, small thermo nuc icons for the F and # keys.

    Those look like stickers, the others are decals, I guess its up to you, I like decals, they will feel the same as the keyboard does now.

    Well, I canceled the 399.00 one. I asked him (I assume is a him) to send me a picture of the cpu and all I got was a screenshot of his windows info. I decided not to take a chance if that was photoshop'd. So, I purchased the last one from roscoe892 for 499.00.
    I looked at these but I thought the font was alittle too big. I felt it's bad enough my old eyes have a hard time seeing the number key because of Gateway decided to use a dark color on them. Let alone making it look to everyone as if i'm really visually impaired. :eek:

    Maxprime1...I would be curious to find out how the key decals look when you get them. On their website the decals look big and centered, but look at the "photo" in thier pages and it seems like they are OEM upper left corner, then the image of the mat set shows upper left....just wondering what the "truth in advertising" is.

    They make different styles. They even will make custom ones. I'm guessing that would be the reason for the difference. I just ordered the reg. ones.
    This is only a temp fix anyhow.
    I'm working with zippy for them to supply lighted keys with el sheeting for the fx series. If all goes to plan. I'll be able to hook anyone up with this mod package.
    As it stands now I can get red ,blue and green el sheeting and it will be powered by the motherboard usb port and the keys they have shown me are black with clear fonts so they light up.

    Lighted keys? holy crap man I want that. Please pm me if you hook that up. I'll be watching for it.
    I'm playing age of conan on my laptop without issue (40-60fps stock)but like you guys i do want to upgrade my cpu with the right upgrade. That X9000 sounds awesome.

    Got mine on. They fit and stand out very well. Glow Keys is a bit of a stretch, however they do a great job throwing back light from the screen.
    They are at least twice as bright as the standard white keys. They will work fine for now.

    I wonder who the OEM is for the Apple lighted keyboards, and will other manufactures follow suit?

    Sorry James, to photograph would be hit or miss depending on exposure. The black plastic pads peel off the laser cut sheet. Getting them perfectly straight is a challenge but fit nicely within the top pads of the keys with no overhang. Angle to key board is critical due to the reflective, not self lighted, nature.

    Ok, just got mine on and they work fine to fix Gateways fubar'd choice of orange number keys.
    This picture is with the lights on. Oh, yes I was to lazy to grab my good camera and tripod.

    This picture is with only the lcd one. Both pictures have not beed edited. As you can see even with only the monitors glow the keys with the glowkeys really pop compaired to the white ones.

    Yeah ,it's a super easy fix that anyone can do on their own.

    Ok, I decided to see how durable they are and I have scratched them hard with a quarter for 10 secs and it did not bother them. They seem to be very durable.

    I just put the stickers on 2 of my systems, they make a big diffrence, you can see the keys now, lol, they are not glow in the dark, but they pickup light good, easy to put on, I just put them on the same keys as Hydra
