My laptop never has had the extra memory chip installed. I now have a 1 GB chip but can't figure out how to get the chip holder to raise to a 45° angle. The manual talks about replacing an existing chip but does NOT talk about installing memory for the first time. I have pushed out on the free ends of the chip holder like the manual says but the holder does not come up like it should.

What is the secret of getting the memory chip holder to raise up so the chip itself can be slid in and seated?

I solved my own problem. Basically, I was trying to make it more complicated than it is. The CHIP goes in at an angle - NOT the holder. When that was pointed out to me, the rest was simple.
