    Hello all,

I bought another WD 250 Gig drive for my new P6831-FX but I can't seem to enable Write Cache on either drive.

    Both drives are: WDC WD2500BEVS-22UST0

They ARE NOT in a RAID. Just two drives under Vista Ultimate 32bit.

In their properties under Device Manager I get: "This Device does not allow its write cache settings to be modified."

Am I correct in assuming I have to reinstall Vista if I enable RAID 0? Boy, I hate to reinstall everything again...

    Thanks a bunch!

Install the intel matrix storage manager...then in that you should be able enable write caching.

If you setup RAID 0 then either way you need reinstall windows.

But I think it is the intel storage manager that disables the write caching, it is disabled because the intel storage manager actually manages the write caching itself instead of windows.

Yes, you need to open the intel storage manager and enable it...not just install it and go through device manager.
