    Exchange my P-7805u with 1900x1200 for 1440x900?

Let me start off by saying that I know some of you are going to think that I am nuts. :)

The 7805 that I have now has the LG 1920x1200 screen. It looks perfect. The machine itself is also giving me no problems...

But, I have notced that sometimes it seems a little too "big" for my tastes. Text is sometimes too small and the like. I know that I can crank up the DPI, but I don't always want to do that.

The biggest difference I've noticed things is in games. I'll use Crysis as an example. If I drop the resolution to 1440x900, my frames can go up from anywhere to 10-15 per second. Not to mention, it doesn't look as good running at its native resolution.

So my question is this: Do I exchange it for the lower resolution screen, or keep the one I have?

I know I run the risk of getting a machine that may have issues, or a bad screen for that matter. I'm thinking that a lower resolution screen may keep this laptop going "longer" with respect to games because it's not so demanding that way.

I also only have until tomorrow to exchange it, that's when my 14 days are up.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you are going to do that, I would maybe try to work out a deal with another member here to help out them, and also help yourself out as well.

I'd rather follow the more is better than less. I did the custom dpi. And I'm ok with it. I also scaled up the desktop icons too. (alt + scroll up). And if worse comes to worst, you can also set the desktop resolution to something lower...

If you're mostly playing games, especially newer ones that are going to be taxing on any hardware, then 1920x1200 is a REALLY tough resolution to play games at, even for a 9800m GTS.... it is definitely no GTX280.

That being said, I work on my laptop a lot, and I would LOVE a WUXGA screen. My dad bought the 7805u and I'm jealous of his screen real estate.... 1440x900 is so confining

For general everyday use, internet and such, 1920x1200 I can live with.

It's the gaming part that I am torn over. It's the only reason that I went with this machine.

Yeah, for gaming, 1920x1200 is a real tough resolution to push. If you lower the resolution though to 1680x1050 or 1440x900 can you see a difference? I mean, does it look blurred out to you like it does to some? Because some people don't mind, some people can't stand it.

Actually, I can see the difference. I'll use Crysis again as my reference. (I was comparing that game for performance difference resolution wise because it's so demanding.)

When I went from 1920x1200 to 1440x900, the resolution became a little fuzzy, not anything unliveable though.

However, when I went back to 1920x1200, that's when I kind of went "Holy Crap!" To me anyway, the change in clarity as well as quality was pretty dramatic. But that's to be expected when going from a non-native resolution back to the native.

    I'm one of those who prefers 1680x1050 or 1440x900 on a 17".

Besides better native resolution longevity for gaming @ 1440x900, it just is easier to read and use even for web surfing and especially coding where you're not straining to read. I've been working on a few MSI-163's (1200x800 @ 15.4") and to me, on a 15.4" screen, that is near perfect, but I could see 1440x900 on 15.4"

Hmm I've got the LG 1920x1200 too and I can read everything perfectly fine browsing and everything.
Only problem I have with it is, I don't know if any of you use Yahoo but when viewing a Webcam from it, the webcam window is VERY small. So I have to lower it to 1680x1024 res while talking on there. Than I put it back to native for everything else.
