Can anyone recommend a spare AC adapter for the P7811FX?

The 120W on Gateway.com does not match the model # of the adapter that comes with this laptop, and does not list it as a compatible model. It probably is, but I'd like some confirmation before purchase.

    Anyone?

    Thanks!

Yup, I jumped on it, and got it for $36 bucks + shipping, received it BRAND NEW RETAIL, and 2nd day shipped! I only paid for standard. Dang, what a deal, not to mention this AC adapter runs cool, and quiet! No static noises, or sizzleing sounds.

Yea, Ive had mine for a while now and it's still running beautifully. Unbelievable for the price.

Here's a thread with some close-up pics and a mini-review if OP is interested.

Yeah that's pretty much what all of us have started swapping to once Dook found it. I highly recommend it, just watch out how you move your notebook so you don't torque the connector.

Other than that enjoy the new 180watt goodness and how your power brick no longer chirps or cooks turkeys that get to close

That link goes to a laptop on Amazon now. Can you provide a link please? I've gone through ten pages of Amazon search and I think I'm getting motion sick.

The one from the guy above you has under new and used sellers a seller with just 30 transactions rated who is selling it for 30 and change, but I wonder if there's something else you mean. The guys who have some experience start at 44 bucks.

Tell the truth even 44 is okay, so I don't mind buying it from Amazon. I just like a vendor who has done more transactions than he can get his immediate family to give him 5 stars on.

Ok, so I just got the Targus 180W ac adapter... which tip are you guys using for the 7811? Two of them seem to fit, but, well, I just wanna be sure to pick the right one before "Bzzt..Zap...Pow! Oh No!!" LOL

Does it even matter as long as it fits? (first time laptop user here, so pardon my ignorance!)

    thanks!

Are there any adapters for the 7811 that are smaller and lighter?

You don't want a smaller/lighter adapter. The whole point of people buying the 180watters is because the factory brick(120watt) has a hard time powering the unit already. Anything less and you're gonna start having major power related problems, not to mention the possibility of a burnout and a mass explosion which could possibly lead to unwanted time warp.

The only reason I think Gateway went with a 120 is because it's the maximum I think the newer airline seats will provide. It used to be just 70W.

Maybe, but i dont know too man people that find it comfortable to use a 17in gaming laptop in an airplane. Even on a charter flight i couldnt even really comfortably open my HP dv9812 and its pretty thin and light for a 17in laptop. I couldnt imagine using one of the FX line in an airplane.

I figures the 120s were cheap...not that i hold it agaisnt them. We still got really nice notebooks for really good prices so its all good if i had to spend 43.77 later on a power brick.
