Just so you no. Its not a big deal, but I would like to get in for later use.

I tried the other day to get into my BIOS and well it asked me for a Password. I do not remember when I turn this computer on for the first time that it ask for a password.

Yes I am the Admin, I try my computer password (user password) didn't work.

So I was wondering is it like 1234 or gateway. Like what would be the Default Password. I have tried just "enter" (not putting anything in) and still doesn't work.

Like I said not a big deal, but would like to get in still. I will be back at my house Thursday, and I still have all my documents there so i will see if its in there. But if you have any idea's please shoot. Thanks guys ;)

If you did not give it a password yourself, try putting nothing in.

Otherwise you'll have to ask Gateway, because we can't help you get around it.

I tried nothing. And well said like error.
I know it should be in my Gateway documents somewhere. But I think it stupid that they have a Password on the BIOS and that I didn't even set it up.

They should has asked me when I first set it up. But yeah Greg, I am not asking to hack into it. just seeing if someone got the same problem like me and see if they have figure it out. Thanks Greg

My BIOS wasn't password protected when I got my P6860FX. Did you buy yours from Best Buy or used?

Got mine from Bestbuy. But the Box Wasn't open or anything, this was a brand new Laptop (never opened). Thats weird you don't have a password "MtnMike".

    Anyone have Idea's ???

    Note
Tried calling Gateway, told me I had 10 min wait. 45 mins later nothing. So I will try again another day.

Not sure if there is an easy way to get to the CMOS jumper to reset the password. If it isn't worth the hassle, I would exchange the laptop.

actually there is not much you can do in the gateway bios anyhow (unless using raid or X2d cpu)

its not normal for any mobo to ship with a locked bios, i am sure you will not find anything in gateway docs, if your computer is new take it back to BB gateway can do nothing about it over the phone.

and dont try opening the notebook to reset the cmos, you are more likely to result in damage that will void your warranty all together.

Well I guess I will take it back to Best buy sometime later. This is still new and plus I got there 3 year warranty from them. So anytime they can reinstall everything and I can ask them to make sure about the BIOS.

Thanks guy's for all the help.
