Recently upgraded my P-7805u FX to Win7, and now my Gateway webcam software will not work. It will install just fine, but when I try to start it I get a message that says "Webcam driver open fail. Please restart camera or computer"

Funny thing is I could swear that this worked with Beta and RC1. I tried to Google it, and I find some results with someone with a Toshiba with the same problem, but no working fix, just that Win7 does not support it.

Any one have this problem and found a way to get around it?

    i did.

uninstall the ones you're using right now and install the chicony webcam vista drivers from your apps and drivers disc. they work on mine (p-7805u) ;) the vista drivers from the gateway site don't, which is weird.

7811 mine works. I just left the Gateway driver Win7 installed. Have not used it much but works fine with Manycam while testing.

Tried to load the apps and drivers disk. But it only gave me an option to restore the whole system, not which driver or system I wanted.

Not sure if it has to do with the fact that I did a clean install rather then an upgrade.

you used the recovery disk instead of the apps and driver disk thats why its asking you to restore

I had the same problem in Win 7, tying to install Gateway cam drivers... same message
I discover that the camera is working with the drivers that Win 7 installs so you don't need actually gateway drivers
In Yahoo messenger is working great

Perfect, that is the main part I am worried about. My wife is due to go in labor any day now, and we wanted to have the laptop with us so we can check in on our other kids and show off the baby once he is born.

Thanks for all the tips and advice.
