The hard drive on my P-7805U went out and I had Best Buy's Repair Center replace it for free because it is still under warranty. They did replace it and the computer works fine now.

However, for some reason the headphone port doesn't work anymore. I tried 3 different sets of headphones and none of them work. I don't want to send it back to BestBuy because I hate being without my computer.

Can someone help me figure out how to fix this???

P.S.: I already tried updating my sound driver and I even reinstalled it. This did not help.

If the headphones work in other things then I would send it back to Best Buy.

Can you think of anything else I can try and do? Is there a way to check the port myself? I don't want Best Buy to send my computer off for 4 more weeks!

This is a problem with me too.
This is the work around I have found.
    Either install windows 7 or...
    Go to your control panel.
Then go to Hardware And Sound
Under Sound click on Manage Audio Devices
Under headphones right click and put "Make Default Device" (I think you have to have a pair of headphones in the jack)
By doing this your problem is not completely solved.
If you plug in your headphones and then open up a program such as iTunes, sound should come out of your headphones.
If you open a program before you plug in the headphones then sound will come out of the speaker even if you plug some headphones in.
    Hope this helps :p

Make sure to install the audio driver for your laptop. The audio will work with the stock driver but it won't automatically switch outputs. If you install the drivers then they will. That might help.
