Hi all, I'm new here.
I have a Gateway FX7020 and recently installed Windows 7 after wiping my previous Vista install. Almost immediately after installation was complete, I began receiving a BSOD. It says the following...
"A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval."
Technical Information:
***STOP: 0x00000101 (0x0000000000000031, 0x00000000000000, 0xFFFFF88002F63180, 0x0000000000000002)
Sometimes I can run the OS for hours with nothing happening, and sometimes it crashes to BSOD within seconds of launching. From what I've read on other forums, it appears it could be an issue with the processor or mobo, or even possibly the TV Tuner card, but why would that all of a sudden crop up as soon as I install Win7 on the machine?
One possible reason is that the FX7020 was originally a Vista Home Premium 32bit, and I just installed Win 7 64bit. Could the jump to 64 bit be affecting the processors?
Of course, I am just out of warranty with Gateway at this point, and the processor (should that be the issue) is no longer available for purchase (unless I ebay it). If necessary, I could post the dump file for anyone willing to take a look-see.
What are my options here? Anyone have any further insight into this problem?
Thanks.

I would ask is the Bios up to date? Also since it does say secondary, and not main, proccessor have you tried it without the TV tuner card? Also while it shouldn't be a 64 bit issue it could be. Being as you are now running the extended execution set your CPU/mainboard/Bios/Buss etc. etc. could have issues not previously seen with a 32bit OS............

I'll give it a shot without the TV Tuner card and see what happens. Then, if that doesn't change anything, I may reinstall with 32 bit. -
Well, turns out the 64bit install is what was causing the problems. The FX7020 must have hardware tuned only to 32bit.
I reinstalled with 32bit and it's working like a charm.
