    Hi pals.

I have just realized that my GPU temp is 65-68ºC while idle and gets 80ºC when playing starcraft 2 (nearly the only thing I play on a computer). I have been messing with some tweaks but haven't been able to lower that. I have powermizer on and BIOS 9c.23.00, my drivers are Dox latest version.

Any help with that? I am concern with that because I have just ordered a new x9100 and my computer wil become a barbaque!

    Thanks!

if you havent already done so, blow out the GPU vent with some compressed air to exorcise any lurking dust bunnies.

if i recall correctly, bios 9.23 only lets the GPU fan kick in at around 70C. I'm on 9.17 and i idle at 45C on a 700/1700/900 OC with the stock heatsink (no ICD7 application to GPU mem chips etc.)

Order some ICD7 along with your X9100. I idle at 27C on stock 3.06GHz @ 1.137v with ICD7 applied on the X9100 and the northbridge chipset (in place of stock thermal pad).

I will go back to 9c.17 and see if fan starts before.
I have already cleaned CPU fan and heatsink, but I don't know how to do that with the GPU one. Should I open the computer? Because there is not any special door for the GPU.
I live at Spain, and I haven't been able to find ICD7 here, I will have to use AS5, which is not as good as ICD7, but isnt bad at all.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello Sr.Agaporni,
I Have the same problem as you, did you put thermal compound on the GPU?
    Did it work?

    Thanks!
