Has anyone had success running Fallout 3 crash-free on a 7801u?
I can't go more than a few minutes without a hard crash, requiring that the computer be shut off with the power button.

I never had a hard crash with fallout on my 7811..

I had plenty of "soft" crashes though.. but that's a known issue with the game not the rig itself.

I had 2 or 3 "fallout 3 has stopped responding" crashes towards the beginning of the game, but none in the last 3/4 of the game. No hard crashes either. What drivers are you using?

Both the included Gateway driver and the Nvidia 179.48 driver.
Whatever sound driver shipped with the computer.

Have you tired going to the Bethesda boards? Not to say that this isn't a good place to ask, but the Bethesda boards are some of the best forums that I've ever been to. You often get to talk to modders who are actually working on fixing a lot of the problems themselves (can't wait for the unofficial patch).

Also, what version of Fallout 3 are you running? Have you downloaded the patch that came out a little while ago? If you haven't, maybe you could give that a try. But it may very well cause more problems than it'll fix.
