I'm thinking about getting a P-7908u motherboard with the 260m to replace my P-7805u board. From what I understand I can use the same heatsinks for the CPU and GPU, is this correct? And does anyone know where I can find the CPU and GPU fans as a spare for either of these models? I've been scouring eBay and Google, but no luck.

Yes you can but I would at least look for the GPU fan from the P79 series as it is better at cooling the system. If you are also going to get a better CPU look at your cpu heat sink, you want the version with the short parallel legs not the diagonal legs as this has a better TDP rating............

I found the P-79 series fan, a little pricey, but I don't have much choice.

I'd probably upgrade the CPU at the same time as well, I'm looking at either the Q9100, or the X9100. QX9300 costs a little too much for me. Do you think a quad core is worth it now? I mostly just use it for gaming, BF3, etc. I run a virtual machine once in a blue moon as well.

if you are just gaming the C2D x9100 is a better choice. If you want multithread grunt power look for a quad...................
