Hey, anyone play Far Cry 2 on the 7811 yet? Seems it'll run at ultra high, 19X12, at least in DX9... If I have it set to DX10 the mouse lag is insane, yet the FPS are still ok. Any thoughts?

Runs crap on my machine at 1440*900 high shadows, very high everything else, DX9
-
Really? Runs surprisingly well on mine even at default clocks and settings. When I up it to 625/925/1550 it's even better. Average framerate on short benchmark is 35 fps.
-
i have not tried dx10 yet, but in dx9 i am able to run 19X12 resolution, all ultra high with 2x aa, and i dont think it lags at all. however i have this tiny problem... everytime i save game, it starts lagging, but changing rez or aa solves the problem until i save again... so i keep playing the game between resolutions of 16x12(or whatever second number is) - 19x12.

Mine is barely 24 fps in cars and close to 24 on foot. -
2008-10-22 21:31:20 - FarCry2
Frames: 16220 - Time: 551712ms - Avg: 29.399 - Min: 4 - Max: 49
I guess I am just sensitive to low FPS. I will have to tweak the settings. It does not feel smooth to me at 30 FPS. -
I'm using Dox's 178.24. Not sure why your min is so low. Is that on the short benchmark?
-
That's playing the game and running fraps. Benchmarks tell you you almost nothing.
-
I benched the game @ 1920x1200, settings to very high, DX10. Got Avrage FPS 35, min 25 and maximum 48. Xfastest 177.85, video OC 700/975/1800.

No only just started OC'ing the GPU. Seems pretty stable at these clocks although I swear I noticed some artifacts in FC2 last night. I didn't have my cooler fan up high though as the girlfriend was asleep and didn't want to wake her with the sound of a jet engine
-
Odd, I'm running at 725/1015/1875, temps are staying low, but I am not getting near as well as the performance some of you are getting...
-
what cpu u have ?
-
-
Bah, nevermind. I just realized things were crappy cause of that **** bug I have that after an error, clocks don't go back into 3d mode. Yeah, my benches are similar to yours now
-
yeah dont change the display settings ingame, it cause mouse lag and the game is super laggy after. I can run at maxed at 1650x1080 on quad core and a 3850.

I'm running it in DX10 with all settings high, and vegetation on very high w/2x AA and 1200x800 res. I haven't lagged at all thus far. The game seems to be MUCH better optimized than Crysis, which is the only game that has given me any trouble running at high. Far Cry 2 looks amazing. Also, stock settings on my GPU.
Sorry to go slightly offtopic, but how much of a performance boost do you guys get by OC'ing the 9800GTS with the P8400? I'm tempted to do some very moderate OC'ING, but I'm concerned about the temps. My GPU never goes over 70C, so I'd like to keep it that way -
-
Guys, my FarCry 2 is heading to me soon, but when you guys say FPS, can you also report what CPUs you got?
Anybody tried 1900x1200 ALL ultra-high, 4xAA and 16xAF with X9100 and GPU slightly OCed? -
-
I have a system with GTX280 SLi, but I need to RMA the Raptor drives so I have to wait.and you know if you are using desktop system, you will be expecting 8xSLiAA or 16xSLiAA
-
-
Exactly. With a near stock 6831 I am getting within 10% of the guys who have x9000 CPUs and overclocked gpus.
In game reults are very different. Who cares if exploding chickens is 35 fps. Run fraps to get true performance. -
Wouldn't it be better to use the in game FPS counter?
showfps 1 -
where can i get exploding chickens ?
-
Uh, Crysis?
-
hmm, cant remember that, can it be done in warhead as well ?
-
Not sure. Never thought of it.
-
-
so that was the smell...

Can someone with an upgraded CPU do a FRAPS run?
Download and install FRAPS.
Run it.
Start Far Cry, once you are in the environment, press F11 play for a few minutes and press F11 to stop.
Go to the directory where FRAPS was installed and open frapslog.txt. Post the results here.
I suspect the min FPS of people with upgraded CPUs will be much higher than mine. -
Send me a copy of Far Cry 2 and I'll happily do it for you.
-
50% through the game. Running at 1920x1200. everything set to high. no AA is needed at that res on a laptop so its looks great at a solid 35FPS
-
lewdvig i'll do it later..
-
thanks man!
