Previously anytime I would play a game such as cod4, my laptop (7811) would have severe heating issues peaking at 109c which I knew could not be right. I bought this computer used so I was hoping that it was dusty fans that were causing all the heat. Well I just spent an hour and a half taking apart my whole computer using the disassemble sticky. What I found was a massive collection of dust on both the cpu and gpu fan and heatsink. The heatsink actually had chunks of matted dusted built up on it. After putting it all back together I booted up and tested cod4. After 20 minutes of playing my gpu (using hwmonitor btw) was averaging 45c and cpu at 35c. What a difference! I also previously undervolted my cpu which went from 50-60c to 30-45c.
So anyway just letting anyone know who is having overheating problems... if you haven't cleaned both the gpu and cpu fans on your laptop yet (depending on how long you've had it) that this could be the issue.
I highly recommend the disassemble sticky at the top of the page because it got me through it with no issues.
And if you are not knowledgeable about computers don't worry because I am not either but I figured I would have to sacrifice the time and effort in order to save my graphics card.
good luck
